Thread: need advise please

Hey Voda Folks.

I am searching for help to determine how I can "buy back" a domain name.

A domain that I owned was cancelled because I could not pay for renewal to VodaHost at that time. I understand that the domain was transferred back to the registrar. I have since purchased a new account with VH. I did not register my second domain name at that time...huge mistake on my part!

I have emailed the registrar, with no response as of yet.

Does anyone have any advise?

Back to square one....

The info from this link confirms what I have determined so far. The domain is held by the registrar. It expires in May 2011. There is no clear statement as to how I can retrieve it.

Two emails have been sent to the reigistrar, Enom, but I have no response. Oh dear...

I was looking at some sites that offer an auction service. Are you familiar with this? Do you think it would apply to my situation?

The domain name I'm referring to isn't vickswickscandles.com. It's my second site, or add on domain that I was working on for my niece. When I purchased my second account with VH, I didn't include this site. So I never knew it was time to renew. Like I said...Big Mistake...

It expires 5/2011. Enom has still not responded to my emails. The name has not expired, but how do I gain control of it?

Submit a support ticket to Voda Support.

Still plugging away at this issue.

VH's response to my support ticket is that the domain name has been returned to the registrar. VH is unable to renew the name.

I am considering using a broker to secure the name for me. Does anyone have any knowledge to share regarding brokerages?

Please provide the exact domain name in question, so we might be able to suggest a remedy.

If the domain name was not originally purchased from a Registrar other than Enom (the Registrar affiliated with VodaHost), then there is nothing VodaHost can do on your behalf to intercede ... and submitting a Support Ticket or panicing in the Forums is of no use.

Always provide the information needed to specifically address the issue when posting in the Forums in order to make it easier to respond.

Since there is a possibility that I may need to bid for this domain name, I have deliberately chosen not to make it public.

VH has responded quickly to my support ticket. It is clear that they cannot do anything further as a result of my error. VH's customer support continues to be an excellent tool, no complaints here.

At this point I am carefully considering using a brokerage to obtain the domain for me...certainly not panicking.

Again, does anyone have any advice in the use of a brokerage?
