Default How to accept Credit cards?

I am new to this whole thing and wanting to start a Ecommerce store i watched few tutorials and found info helpful I dont see anywhere it talks about SSL certificate I am told i need to be able to accept CC. how can i get that and add that option to my web store? Sorry is this question was posted in the wrong place.

What are you using for a cart? This will determine HOW you accept credit cards.. If you plan to obtain this info ONSITE you will need ssl, dedicated ip and an encrypted cart that runs the ssl and transfers the info to your GATEWAY and merchant account. You also have to have these in place.

If you use paypal, you will need a paypal acct business or premier for website payments. They also offer a merchant account..again this is needed for ONSITE only.. regular paypal works fine for checkout on THEIR site and their SSL
