Thread: Preventing people from copying our website

Is there a way to protect our site from anyone right-clicking and stealing our content? We're not wanting to know about copyright we already have that. Is there a service or application we can place on our pages to prevent people from copying and pasting?

no - if someone really wants your material, they can take it, pictures, video, text anything they want.

Texts and images may be stolen, BUT NOT VIDEOS - you can protect it by encoding.

I got news for you.. that video downloads to my computer. I can get a copy of it out of temp files.

Yes you can disable Right-Clicking. You'll need a bit of javascript code. Just google "No-Right Click Javascript" or something on those lines.

Its basically a bit of code you can insert into your HTML.

Or you can monitor copy cats using http://www.copyscape.com/, although not a fan.

Disabling right click does nothing.. just go to the tool bar and view source. Its all there.

It is advised however, to convert videos to Flash (which also compresses them for faster loading) as this prevents copying while both embedding them directly onto your website and preserves the clarity despite loading, connection, or other issues that may come into play.

*Helps* prevent copying. There is always a way around any security measure

Sorry if i ask this and please dont get me wrong but what exactly are u trying to protect ! there are no real images hat anybody might want to copy !!

There are services you can enlist that NOTIFIES you when someone COPIES your content, but that doesnt stop them from doing it. You can then contact site owners and ask them to remove it.. but you have to PROVE copyright infringement to make them do so.
