Red face Changing password in CPanel ...

    Hi Everyone!

This is a dumb question but needs an answer all the same ....

Once I go into CPanel to change the passwords of my email accounts, do I go in right away to the email clients to change the passwords in there?? (ie: outlook/outlook express) --

I want to change the passwords, but need to know how long it will take before the "change" takes effect so that the emails will "work" -- for instance, do I wait 24 hours before I change these passwords in the email accounts themselves?

Thanks to whoever knows this answer ...

    Katie

    Hello Katie,

To change your email account passwords using cpanel:

Log in CPanel, Go to Email, change the password.

Then, setup you email accounts in your email programs (ie, outlook) by going into the relevant properties of each email account.

The change should work instantly. This is because passowrds are access features but not functional features.. so even if you put in the wrong passowrd, your email will still be received by the server.

    Hope this helps,

    Cheers.
