Thread: Sending Mass Email

Hi Chapps and Lasses, Once again in need of advice.

My email has been configured and I am using outlook express. Everything works fine but I wish to send monthly update emails to all my customers. I can do this through outlook but when my customer receives mail it also reviels the rest of my customers that the mail has been sent to. Is there any way of sending mail to all my customers without revealing other customers details in the sent to box. Thanks

The only way to do it is through a script, that will send independent emails to each of them. In order to acheive that, you can
1. Buy a commercial script
2. Have a script made by someone: this script must
a. store the customers details in a database (you can also do that
manually after the creation of the DB, using phpMyAdmin in your CP
b. Have a mail creation page, where you can create the mail body.
c. Retreive the client's email from the database and send the mails.

In outlook to send this mail .... send it to yourself, and on the same email send to all other as BCC (add all these others to a group (called mail list or something) .... blind carbon copy, this way everyone will get an email only showing their name, you will receive the original all email addresses and names will not be shown to each other ....

your email would look like this

To: self

bcc: mail list

everyone receives it and no one sees others names or addresses

Just another tip on mass mailings with outlook express mail is

Keep your groups to say 30 members each ....
So if you have 150 people to mail to make 5 different groups

mail list 1 - add the first 30 email addresses
mail list 2 - add the next 30
and so on

send the mass mailing lists about 10 minutes apart and best not to do it during busy hours on the internet .... like noon time and prime time in the evening,

best to send out at about 10:00 pm in the evening or mid afternoon, or between 10:00 am and 11:00 am
