Thread: Sending Email thorugh OE with AOL as an ISP

Hi all, I've not normally had any trouble sending emails through Outlook Express, but just recently I can receive only. Not send, I've read, and re-read everything and as far as I'm concerened everything is correct, I mean it was working, and I've not changed anything.

I've checked my IP address and the first 4 results shows it's dirty, which means nothing to me, will this stop it??

As said, I'm my ISP is AOL, my contract is up, should I be changing??

If the IP AOL gave you is dirty or has gone dirty you have a bit of
problem I am afraid, try turning your modem on and off to see if this
assigns you a new IP.

If not, try calling AOL, they are very unhelpful. If this fails I would get a
new ISP, AOL have gotten a bit too big for there britches and have a very
arrogant and non-empathetic approach to customer care.

VodaHost does not provide ISP services. (yet)

I have however just reset my modem, and voila, I have managed to send an email. Hopefully this was the cause of the issue.

I am trying to help my neighbor who is on dialup/Aol and wants to use OE to send emails. Emails are coming in to OE but can not be sent. I don't know what I am doing wrong and I'm ready to pull my last three remaining hairs out.... can someone help me??

Does he have a VH account ? you see, if his is a VH account and the email address is with this account, we would be able to provide some piece of information, if not, only AOL users here that have had the same would be able to advise.

Aol, Last I knew, removed compatiblility with all third party email software after their last hack. If you dig deep enought there are some articles about resetting the ip ports, but last time i tried to help someone with an ftp issue, not related to Voda or outlook, but similar, we couldnt get it done. So, maybe they did remove all availablity. Not only that, if you are using FREE aol you wont be able to call them either, as support is only for paying customers.

Sorry, wish I had some good news for you. If you pay for aol, Im sure they are going to tell you that you can only get mail on outlook. You can sign in to AOL.Com and view and send mail, and you might try going there and peeking at your browser bar for a clue as to how to put your settings after you have signed in.
