I have reported this issue with Blueyonder, but felt I should air it here too since I didn't have this problem before we changed our hosting to Vodahost. When we transferred over (on the 25th Sept), we had to change our phpBB forum config to an SMTP server since the local mail function no longer worked (as it had with our previous hosts).. Today, notification emails have stopped and we (along with some users) are getting this error screen I have also raised this with php and they said it was either a host or ISP problem (and that's Voda or Blueyonder)... Any hints/tips/advice? Cheers |

Hi Kirsty, 1) Who is Blueyonder? 2) This sounds like a configuration problem. When you switched over you did not config your new forum correctly. Everything is working fine on our end. 3) When you say you raised this issue with php...who exactly is php? 4) Have you examined line 111 to see what the problem is? *****

Sorry... I forget that I'm not always talking to the UK.. ;) Blueyonder are my ISP, it's their SMTP server the forum is using for emails. phpBB is free forum software. I don't think it's a configuration issue since it worked fine at the start (25th Sept) up until Yesterday. And the errors are sporadic, not constant. As far as I can tell, line 111 is just a check for an error condition. smtp.php hasn't changed in the 2 years we've run the forum. As I said, I think this is an issue with the ISP (Blueyonder), but it was suggested it could be relevant to hosting, hence the post... |

ok....I know phpBB Very well, we offer it to all our customers for free in there control panel under fantastico...You can try doing a fresh installation of phpBB and if that works fine just re-upload your database. Also you can visit the phpBB forum on the url below, I send folks there all the time. The forum devolopers are the moderators and they are very helpful. http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/
