Thread: smtp error in outlook - Does anyone know?

Hello all

I have never had problems with email accounts I have set up through VH.

However for last 4/5 days. My outgoing mail (SMTP) is failing. This is the message.


Task 'mail.dcwebsolutions.co.uk - Sending' reported error (0x800CCC6A) : 'Your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server has reported an internal error. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP). The server responded: 451 Please try again later.'


I am also getting this problem with my addons.

Has anyone else experienced this issue lately and is there anyone who can help?

PS. I have also tried using a different PC but am still having the same problem.

Do you connect thru an isp? Most isp's are now requiring secure logons for sending mail..even tho its your site mail. If you use their server for smtp.. thats your issue most likely. And.. alot are stopping that direct connect bypassing them for mail...

I use outlook and don't use my ISP for outgoing. I used to but I haven't done for ages to be honest. I'll take your advice however.

I am having the same problem, can't send email via outlook 2003. No problem in reciving emails. Reading the email below, I don't understand what I should do to solve my problem. Hope can get more details. Thanks for your help.

You should change your smtp to your isp and use the user name and password that you use to sign on with them. Even tho you are sending mail for your site.. you connect to the internet thru them and this is one way of stopping spam mail thru their internet connects by requiring you to log in to send the mail.

for instance if you hook up thru yahoo..

your smtp would be smtp.att.yahoo.com then click down in the outgoing mail server.. my server requires authentication, then logon as.. your isp user name and password.
