I was having problems setting up outlook to send and receive emails for a while with no solutions. An error with SMTP always appear. After looking through the forum, I realized that the ISP outgoing server should be used to fix the problem. After searching google, I found a site that has a list of ISP outgoing servers: http://www.bowerwebsolutions.com/sup...e.htm#smtplist This is what I entered in outlook to setup for example: Name: Abel Johnson Email Address: Abel@YOURDOMAIN.com (made up) Account Type: POP3 Incoming mail server: mail@YOURDOMAIN.com Outgoing mail server: mail.optonline.net (my ISP is optimum online; retrieved outgoing server from link above) User Name: Abel@YOURDOMAIN.com (same as email address) Password: whatever your password is Under "More Settings" on the "Outgoing Server" tab: uncheck (if check) my outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication then hit OK Everything worked at this point. No errors came back after running "Test Account Setting" and I'm now able to send and receive emails. Finally. Hopefully this will be of aid for someone. Good Luck. Yes.. ive said over and over and over.. most need to use their isp outgoing email settings. Sometimes this also requires authentication and changing the ports.. Karen

:) This solved my problems too... BUT... With my old host whom I am still with (until I finish making sure everything is working ok here first) I actually use them for both incoming & outgoing, not my ISP... Does Vodahost not support this? |
