Thread: forgotten email password

I have been without my computer or internet for the last 2 weeks as it was sent away to be serviced.

I created my email accounts before I sent it to be serviced & have recieved mail in them since.

Now that I have my system again, I can not seem to access my accounts. I am sure I used the same password as when I set up my free web mail account (yahoo) but I keep getting a Login failed error.

Is there any way to retrieve my password? It is very important as I have recieved our appartment reservations in this account

You must have an alternate email adress. when you try to open your email via yahoo and the invalid prompt appears, click forgotten username or password.

If m right, when you click the forgotten username/password, they will then ask you your alternate email. If you remember that alternate email ad of yours, there they will send the forgotten username/password.

Big problem is if you forgot your alternate email ad. If you do, make it certain its only the password you forgot not the username. They will ask you the security question when you sign in. If you have chosen "what is the name of your pet" be sure to recall the right answer.

what I meant is that I am sure that I used my yahoo password for my bv email account. - But it is not working.

Then probably, they will give you the option to change the password. If you were successful in changing the password, you can now access the old email ad with a new password. Be sure about your caps lock if they have to be activated or not when you log in. Also when your processor is slow like the Pentium 3 and older models this signing problem occurs.

Oh sorry, not my expertise actually. If you could post a visitor message to navaldesign, he could have some answers as he always helps me in problems i couldn't solve mate.

I know there was a way to edit a post but I can not remember how, so I'll do it this way....

Please read my post carefully before replying; I have tried to explain it as clear as possible.

Just delete the email in cpanel and recreate it with a NEW USER NAME AND PASSWORD.

If you cant access cpanel either and cant find your email.. then put in a support ticket and give them as many details as possible.

You will lose whatever mail in there.. contact your RESERVATIONS and have them send a NEW email to a different address.

Thanks Karen, I know I can delete and start anew...

the problem is that this email is my reservations account where people reply from our website and other internet advertisements. I have no way of know who to contact if I can not get into the email acccount.

Is there no forgot my password option as with free web mails or page sign-in scripts?

No.. there is NO forgot my password.. which is why you are supposed to write them down or print them out. Its different when you are running your own show. YOU have to take responsibility!

And your OTHER lil snippy post is zapped.

Its also not POLITE protocol to leave personal messages on their profile for forum assisted stuff.

Thanks, I thought by making 1 for all of them & the same or almost the same as my other webmail accounts I would not forget... problem is I never got to complete setting up as my hd broke.

Not sure what you mean by lil snipy. I m sorry if I said something bad or offensive.

You inferred I didnt give you the right answer. You are quite welcome to ask here for a second opinion instead of making a NEW post for the same topic.

You might try logging into the DEFAULT MASTER mail account and see if you can locate your MAIL there.. sometimes you can get ALL of the mail depending on how your server is set up. Past that.. if you cant remember the passwords.. Thats the best that can be done.

thank you and sorry, I did n ot mean to imply that your answer was wrong.

I now can no longer get access to the cpanel page or the webmail page...keep getting a network timeout error or server failed to reply. I have tried over 30 times in the last 3 hrs.

All other website I go to load up fine & without delay so I do not believe that it is a connection speed problem.

I have posted a support ticket hoping that I can still get a reply as after this evening I will no longer have I-net access for the next week.

Do you know if there is a limit to the number of unsuccessful sign-in attempts?

Yes.. and it will lock you out after about the 5th one.

So.. you will have to wait for the support ticket

UPDATE!!

I have not found a way to retrieve the password, but I have found a solution that is just as good and no information is lost.

When you access cpanel ==> email accounts you can merely change your password without having to enter the old one. Now, with the new password you can access your account and all emails within.
