Default Autoresponder - BV or Outlook

    Dear Team

Have spent the day searching through tutorials and the help forums but cant find what I am looking for.

Basically, on my webpage, I have a simple form for them to submit their Name & Email address to my email account.

I would like to associate an autoresponder to this submission of data and am not sure whether to do this via:

    BV - via the forms???

Outlook - via the Rules & Alerts using templates etc?

I cannot get either method working so some help, directions on how to would be greatly appreciated.

    Best Wishes

On your cpanel email account is where you set up autoresponders.. bottom of the page where you set up add edit.

    Thanks for that Karen!

After spending around 5 hours trying to work it out yesterday, the problem was (half) resolved in 5 minutes.

The auto responder is a basic text email. What is the best way to go about having a nice pretty formatted email that goes out?

The auto response email has no spaces etc and it doesnt get sent looking very user friendly.

    Thoughts?

    Default Capturing form details

    Dear Karen

Another question for you, on my form capture page I am getting people's Name and Email address.

What is the best way to automate getting these details into either a database or an address list so that I can easily email them back?

Any help that you can give me would be appreciated.

    Best Wishes

    Sharnee

You have to have it populate a database for capturing it in a list rather than an email. You would need a customized script for that. Contact watdaflip or naval for that.

You can put in html in that autoresponder.. but you have to know the codes....

    Thanks for that Karen :)

So does anyone know the code that they could share with me?

I only have 2 simple fields from the Form Wizard in BV.

Name and Email address with no validations on either field.

I have set up a SQL database with 2 fields 100 varchar with no primary keys but I dont know how to link the 2.

Anyone want to take a stab?

    Thanks!!

How advanced is the Autoresponder capability?
I would like to setup half a dozen emails (customised with <name> for example) to be sent out say once a week to each prospect that gives me their email address (and name) preferably managed via a form.

Ive never USED the autoresponder by itself for that purpose.. so i cant answer that for you.. however, in cpanel someplace, and I dont remember where, you can set up a newsletter type list, and I dont have time to go look at the moment... and generate it.

Personally.. i use a PAID program for this so i dont get hit with SPAM and blacklisted by isps..etc

    Thanks Karen
I've been looking at comercial products but hoped Soho might have it included but it looks very manual.

Soholaunch does do this.. the manual part is setting up the campaign.. once done, you simply hit the list you want to send to.. however, some versions of soho come without the newsletter. the reason again is SPAM,.. the autoresponder is easily hacked on the majority of mail servers, which is why i dont use it much.. even for contactme forms and use a commercial one for the important lists.

This is also the reason so many isps BLOCK email and emailers and why so many isps are making you log thru them to even connect to your mail server.

If you are going to do a newsletter list on a regular basis.. then invest in a paid service.

    Dear Karen

So would I be better off investing in an email service like "iContact" which will manage subscriptions, users, and autoresponders?

Or can BV control panel do these things?

At the moment in BV, I cant get the form on my website to link to my SQL database (just 2 simple fields - name & email address) and then I dont know how to customise my autoresponder email back to the contact (ie Dear Karen instead of Dear Friend).

I also seem to be only able to set up 1 auto responder, and instead I would like to be able to trigger 7 emails that are sent for each day for 7 days after the contact contacts me.

    Thoughts?

Many thanks for your help in pointing me in the right direction as I am a relative newbie to all of this :)
