    Default Form Maker Pro Installation

I have been trying to install Form Maker Pro (looks pretty cool). I have downloaded the zip file and entered BlueFTP, but I don't see it anywhere? I'm assuming I would just select the "fmp" file, push "UP" to upload, and that would be the end of it (Then go to www.domain.com/fmpinstall or something). Am I right? Where should the Form Maker file be in BlueFTP?

    Thanks!

Sorry...realized that uploading in BFTP is of the drag and drop variety. Once in the public_htmll folder, can I install via CP?

And I keep answering all my own questions. At this rate I'll be finished before anyone can reply. I was a bit thrown by the following instruction :"chmod the the entire fmp folder to 755 unless you are on the voda2 sever IP 70.86.30.66 you will chmod the the entire fmp folder to to 777". I am not overly technical, so I'm not sure how to "chmod" a folder. This seems to be the last step...

it seems this is a permissions issue. You can change the permissions of the folder through file manager in cpanel. click on the folder then look to the menue on the right. change permissions and make it the appropriate 777 or 755.

I'm just not sure of the next step. Once the file has been uploaded, the next instruction is as mentioned previously. I don't know what "chmod" is. Also, in the file manager, I don't see any menu. The page with instructions is here: http://www.vodahost.com/fmpdocs/

    Thanks again...

Does anyone have any suggestions on finishing the installation?

    In file manager:

you can either click on the folder which will open the folder or on the name of the folder.

When you click on the name of the folder, Look at the top right of your screen. There is a little menu. Its really a list of links. They give you options such as:
delete, rename, move, change permissions, etc.

If you click on the change permissions for the file in question, you can change the permissions from 777 to 755 or vice versa.

I suggest you change the permissions for the file in question to the appropriate permissions that you were mentioning. If your file has the appropriate permissions already, then there is another issue.

    I hope that helped.

There seems to be a different issue, then, because I tried both 755 and 777 and neither worked. The install.php file is there, but when I try to execute it (domain/fmp/install.php), there is an error still.

Did you chmod the install.php file to 755? Is the error a 500 error?

In the FMP folder, look for a file named .htaccess and delete it.

If you don't see that file and you're getting a 500 internal error, you're not setting permissions correctly.

Hmmm. Well, I suppose I'm stuck then. Permissions are set to 755, and all the files appear to be there. Strange, indeed. I also tried 777 to no avail, either.

I can look at it if you'd like. You'd need to email me your domain name and your Cpanel username and password. My email is racefan20n11******.com

Question Re: Form Maker Pro Installation

Well...I don't expect a huge volume of form requests--certainly not too many to process manually. Perhaps the form tools in BV will be sufficient for my purposes. Maybe you could tell what's wrong with the forms I have already created...at...

    http://www.weatherwest.com/survey.html
    http://www.weatherwest.com/testform01.html

They seem to go through alright, but I never receive the data in my inbox (except once...2 months after being sent!)...

    Thanks...

Don't use that one, it blows. Either use FMP or this one: http://www.vodahost.com/vodatalk/new...processor.html

OK, well I'll try just deleting and reinstalling the whole FMP and uploading the files again. Is there anything I actively have to do with MySQL in order to get this process to work? Sign in or anything? Sorry...don't hold back because you think something is too obvious...it's probably news to me...I really appreciate the guidance...

Scratch that. It's just a "floating" file when I connect to FTP...not associated with any folder

Yeah, don't delete it then, it's only a concern if it's within the folder. It's been a long time since I installed or used FMP so I don't remember all the steps, but I know I didn't have any difficulties with it.

Trying again is a good idea. If you continue having problems, my offer still stands to give you a hand with it.

    Halted.

    Does this help?

All the files seem to be there. Is there something specific I should do with mySQL?

It is 100% certain that some files and / or folders are missing. Check it.

I'm having the same problem. Is it because the ftp disconnects from the serverby itself while i'm uploading the fmp file?

If the upload of the files is not complete, the software will not work as there are files missing.

Hi Guys this is a copy of a message that I posted in the wrong section. This is an installation problem that should be easy but I just cannot crack it.

I have read the threads so I checked that all the folders and folders within folders uploaded to my site.
The fmp folder has 755 permissions.
    The database has been created.
I did initially miss off my site username in front of the data base name but that has been changed.
The My SQL host is set to localhost.

When I hit the install button I get the message Could not connect to MySQL server.

Any body got any ideas where I am going wrong?

Only explanation: wrong username / database name / password.

The password is hard to mistake, but the username and the database name must be preceded by "CPusername_". So, if you you ahave created a user, i.e. "john" your username is "CPusername_john". The same for the database: if you have created, i.e. the database "FMP" the actual database name is "CPusername_FMP".

Another possible mistake (if the above are correct) is that you might not have added that user to the specific database.

    Grazie Tante,

It was the CPusername infront of the user name that stopped me.

Now I am into the program the real fun begins.
