About LinkBacksBy using a contact form (which I do) does this protect one's email address from spammers' spider bots that that harvest email addresses for their own nefarious ends?

Yes, when you use a script to send the email from your site, your address is never revealed to those viewing your website (the only way they will know is if you respond to the email).
