Yes, simply change the value in the ABVFP control panel.

Of course, the maximum allowed size is the one set in your server settings. Currently VH has some servers set at 4, some at 8, some at 12 MB. Can't know your server limits.

Upload it on your server and run it through your browser

Hello Naval

I have to build a "Contact Us" page for my site ( www.alfil-sa.com ) but I have not yet started with it.
I am using BV-10.1. I have read in other posts that BV-11 has problems with form pages built within BV-10.
Is this BV-11's issue still valid or was already solved? Or, should I build this page using VB-10 and do not switch yet to VB-11? Or else?

I stayed with BV10 as per your suggestion. However I have not been able to install AVBFP. This is what I did:
1) I uploaded the AVBFP files to a folder named AVBFP, created in the public area.
2) I created the "AVBFP" database in my site using Cpanel. I assigned the name, user and password for this database.
3) I went to the form opened in the page "http://www.alfil-sa.com/ABVFP/dbts_install.php"
4) I assigned new user's name and password (supposed to be valid only for this operation)
5) I provided the other information asked for (copied from the CPanel database management) and accepted the EULA.
6) I tried then to install the ABVFP in my site but I keep receiving this error message:
"Could not connect to the database. Please check Database details !"
I checked and repair the database within CPanel, just in case, but the result is the same.

Did I misunderstand some step? Please advise.

When you created the username and password for the ABVFP database, did you grant this user permissions to access the database itself ?

When I created the database, I gave me (the user) all permits. But, for some reason, even if the user was created, it was not associated to the DB. I was sure I had pressed the button "Add". When I added the user to the DB, the AVBFP installation was successful. Thanks a lot !!

I had problem in directory (when VB server went down) all my files in ABVFP where corrupted ( I had protection 0000 and I could not changed it) so VB support deleted directory ABVFP and I deleted database ABVFP. I want now to start over:
I created ABVFP database and assigned user with password
I copy unzipped files to directory and copy link

Obviously the folder permissions are wrong. Normally should be 755.

See if they are correct or not-

If you can't change them it probably is a more generic issue that only support can solve.

Hi Naval,
I did changed protection to 755 it was 777 for some reason,
but now when I fill first tutorial it show me:
"Could not connect to the Database Server. Please check user details !"

I had screen shot what I have before when everything was working.
in first 3 lines I can fill anything (username, password)
Database Name: CPmyname_ABVFP - (myname-I use real name of database and Database user))
Database User : CPmyname_(myname- name of user I assigned to database)
password I assigned to that user

I thing I am fallowing instruction
Did I mist anything?

If the database details (DB name, DB user , DB password) are correct, the only reason for not connecting is that you have not granted permissions to that user for the ABVFP database.

Go in your CP and ADD the specific user to the ABVFP database, granting ALL permissions.

The ONLY reason for this error is mistaken db details or user not been granted permissions for THAT database.

There is no way i can help you without entering your account control panel to check these details.

I deleted and recreated your Database , added user, granted permissions, installed ABVFP. You should receive the automated email with the installation details.

As i said: look at the email you received, i used EXCACTLY what is in there

CPyourname_ABVFP means that if your control panel username is, in example "hgJklty" that should be "hgJklty_ABVFP"

The error message is quite clear: some of the details (one or more) are incorrect.

OR

you have not granted the user you created, permissions (ALL) to the specific database you created for ABVFP

Hi Navaldesign,
I have new question for you. I need in my web site to have search ability to find members of the site by specific data for example: Country, State, City, Gender , Age, Hair Color, .. ect. which would be indicated in search form.
Something similar like in Soholaunch search from DB table. I can’t use that one
(I thing) because my web is built in VB and I didn’t like how the result table where looking and all flexibility of that program (templates). As I mention before I am new in building web sites. I will have pages in the site for each member. I cannot use eCommerce (I thing so far I see there) because I am not selling them :).
I did checked forum for ‘Search’ and also did go to , http://www.freefind.com/. All of them have one line search. I would prefer search from inside my web site, but if I have to, I would create DB table. I don’t know what will work in VB program and what program to use for it.
Can you please make suggestion what to do or use.

To be able to do this, you need:

1. A members script (where they create an account with the details (City, state, hair color etc). This would take care of feeding the data in the DB. Please note that for a field to be searchale, your input field should (ideally) have dropdown options for all of the above, otherwise, someone can put, as State (in example) Miami and another one MI . So the search would not provide reliable results
2. A search feature that would allow to search with one field value or a combination of values (State = MIAMI & Gender = Male & Hair Color = Blonde etc) and would display the results in a list.
3. Ideally, the members page could be autocreated retrieving the data from the database.

There might be some scripts that probably can do this (not sure) but not from inside BV. For a BV based script you need to have it custom made and as such it might cost.

Yes, use a HTML box to add the captcha code. The contact form that comes with the ABVFP zip contains a captcha so simply copy / paste and change the necessary URLs in the code.

I found a captcha file in my abvfp folder on computer. Opened it,copied details(no sign of URL) created an HTML box on my page,pasted details in box,previewed my page...nothing....

No, you should not have touched this file.
Place a html box in your form (It will need to have the dimensions of the the captcha that will appear)

Paste the following code in this HTML box:

Replace the two URLS avove with your own (related to your domain)

OR

Open the folder BV Pages (in the zip)
Open the page "contactform"

Copy / paste the captcha HTML box from "contactform" to your own page
Double click it and edit the two URLs

Please note that this ONLY works when the page is published, not in preview as it is PHP code.

Thanks...I have got there...and it works of a fashion!!....I did test captcha box, but I can put any old nubers or letter in, and ut then goes to my thank you page!...Is this how it is supposed to work?..I would have thought u needed to put the exact code in the box??

No, it should not. If the entered code is wrong, it should send to the error page.

BUT

you have not used ABVFP to process your form!

The built in form processor CAN'T verify the captcha value. You need to use ABVFP to process your form

I was assuming that since you posted in the ABVFP thread, you were using ABVFP but you are not!

The issue is not redoing the form, but installing ABVFP and using it to process your form, to get the captcha working on your site. The installation is really simple, if you follow the manual instructions.

If not, Yes, i can install ABVFP (There is an installation Request form in the same page where you downloaded ABVFP from my site) and setup your form accordingly.

I have recreated form from ABVFP folder (contactform) have also saved a new form created in ABVFP saved as Form 4.Have used instruction Formid 4. Am unsure how it all works together. In the instructions,i read that you can create form, but you also give it an instruction with the Formid value,
but I thought this would be confusing, as the Formid instruction is for another form design?? Sorry for being a bit thick! I have carried out installation as per instructions...Thanks for help

Not sure what you mean or what you are asking (if you are asking something)

Your form in the above link has its action pointing to the page itself, so you do NOT process it with ABVFP. You probably have set the form to be processed with the built in form processor. If so, how do you expect ABVFP to process your form ???

sorry if not clear.....I am using BV to create my web site, and assume I use that for making the form, If not I still do not know how ABVFP then works....Do you create a page in BV and then give an instruction from a button, say in Index, to ABVFP folder on server to the contact form in that folder,which then opens the form that I created in ABVFP? If that is the case where do u put instruction for which form to open(Formid 4)?

Please read the ABVFP manual.

The form is created in BV
You set the form action to point to ABVFP (it is explained in the manual)
Then you setup the specific form in the ABVFP control panel. It will display a Formid when you do so.

You use this value for the form hidden field.

and you are ready to publish and test your form

All of the above are explained in details in the ABVFP manual included in the zip.

There is a "Request Installation Service" button in the ABVFP download page.
It will take you to a form where you can select the options you like and it will, at the end, take you to the payments page.

About my problem
1) when using ABVFP, messages coming to my mailbox are scramble. I can change chararcter code to utf8 and display the message via outlook express. but when using webmails, such as gmail, i have to way to view the message.
2) data stored in the database are all cramble
3) before installing abvfp, there had no problem with the built-in php form processor. But now when switching back to the built-in php form processor, even if i checked "data required", form can be submitted even with nothing filled out.

Please help.

If you are using UTF8, the database also should be set so.
ABVFP by default uses ISO 8859-1 so you need to edit the code and reupload the file.

3) this has nothing to do with ABVFP: look at how you have named your form, the form name should not contain any white spaces or symbols.
