Yes. I have done everything to the letter, can see the file in the correct folder, but when I try to install I keep getting a 500 internal server error.

I have installed several other things without problems. I worked out that the 'contents "users" folder was actually the fmp folder (well with help from Naval, lol). I have no clue why it won't install. Changed my file permissions and everything..?

Cheers Alien!

I must admit I didn't think to check that. You were spot on. Thanks matie - you're a star!

Ps. Check all the folders, in a similar fashion, as there were a couple of others where all the contents hadn't transfered over completely.

No problem Amanda,
i have made it one of those checks to do when moving folders, just to double check that every thing goes over. Now if could apply that to other things i've done recently i would be ok.

Hi Alien, yes I had to transfer all the files over 1 at a time as ftp kept dropping out, took me ages.
Checked that all files were there, but when I try to run install.php comes up with:
(none) 80.25.14.55 /fmp/install.php www.mvpalma1.com
but I can see the install.php using ftp and file manager.

Hi David.
i know this sounds like a stupid question but did you set the premissions to 777 on the folder on the right side of fpt manager. i've just try yours and it's not letting you in to the folder with address fmp/install.php

Ok- I have tried thrice. Very carefully. Here's what I did;
Created mySql database
Download zip file.
Extract all files.
Upload via Blue FTP fmp folder (in public_html)
**Very carefully checked and made sure that each and every
folder and all files were up-loaded to server.
CHMOD fmp folder 777 permission
Run install from browser- http://mysite.com/fmp/install.php

500 internal server error with an additional 404 error trying to access
error page.

This was done twice. Then I s****ped it all and did the above over again-
this time going into each sub folder/file and giving CHMOD permission of 755. NO LOVE.

Have deleted all and will await for someone who has actually done it and gotten to work give me a hand. It appears that others are getting the 500 internal error also. No where in the instructions does it state that all files will, most likely, not transfer so be careful- maybe that is just a given. Will wait patiently for someone with the answers.

Thanks in advance

Andy

Alien, please can YOU tell me what or who the referrer is? I'm stuck on adding my sites because I can't get an answer to this.

Thanks, matie.

Once the install is successful and you go to add your sites - it asks for a referrer. I wasn't sure what it meant, in this context, but, as Alien has pointed out, it seems I can leave it blank. So all is cool. Thanks.

Hi Navaldesign,

have used Blue FTP to upload file to public folder. Then right clicked on fmp folder, sub menu appears, click on properties, no properties window appears?
It appears to try and open a further options but fails to.

Select file (fmp) then Alt+enter and see if that opens the window. Or simply use the tool bar - File>properties.

Or, if it doesn't work, go in your CP, File Manager, Public_html, fmp. Click on the fmp file, and you will see a small menu on the top right corner. Amomg other choices there is "Change permissions". Click there to change the permissions.

After 3 days uploading and sore eyes from looking and checking every single folder and files I have finally manged to get this working.....

For those that only have dialup and WiFi, please check every folder and sub folder as BV ftp has a habit of dropping out with above slow systems....

I can now look back and see that some of the problems in the past can be laid at the door of MY system and BV ftp.

So dont give up, its well worth the effort.

Have fun

Very good reminder! As I have dial up and its not just BV ftp its most anything you up or download!...Ive had to try and retry many different times as if connection is broken which it is many times with dial up then files seemingly can be lost!
sorry for your toubles, I know how frustrating it can be!

Hi Kate,
Once you have form maker working OK
Just go into bv ftp and delete the Install.php (right hand side fmp folder) and thats it.......

You then access form maker by http://yourdomainname.xxx/fmp

Have fun....

I have an add-on domanain christanddavinci.com to my primary clarionword.com. I FTPed fmp folder to clarionword/html_public after trying to install when it was only in clarionword/html_public/christanddavinci. Now fmp folder and contents are in both. Still doesn't work.

After entering http://christanddavinci.com/fmp/install.php I get message:

Template Error: set_root: tpl is not a directory.
Halted.

http://christanddavinci.com/fmp/install.php

fmp permissions is set to 755 for server 74.52.42.242.

What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

Your root directory is clarionword.com and the fmp folder should only be installed in the above.

Delete the fmp folder in christanddavinci.com and reinstall to your root.
(public_html)
Then using your browser enter http://clarionword.com/fmp/install.php

If above does not work then check the fmp folder dir by dir and file by file.

The alternative is to request a paid installation from Vodahost.

If forms works ok then you can add your addon site in the sites section.
Dont forget to delete the Install.php from your fmp folder on your website....

Talking Re: Form Maker Pro

I have finally successfully installed Form Maker and create my first form. Everything is great!!! except when I submit data in the form. I get this message:

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@clarionword.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

What am I missing?? Thanks for any help. Charlieku

I got as far as you did, but I had a different error to do with
formproccesor.php
I re-uploaded the above file and now the form works OK......

You might try to re-install .......Its a long job to check every dir/sub dir/files

that web address above is a site still under construction !!!! Is it yours ?

Later this morning I'll have time to try your suggestion. Thanks for the help, David. Yes, clarionword.com is my primary site. Lot of work to do yet. First, I am putting up two other sites that are add-ons: getreadygetsetido.com and christanddavinci.com. The latter is the one for which I built the form.

Again, thanks for the response. Have a good one. Charlieku

good luck and please let us know your end results....

I am posting this here because this thread has been a result of all the inherent dangers of an unprotected feedback/email form or any other form for that matter as originally discussed by Andy128 and Naval and others........

By using Form Maker Pro you can do away with most of the problems without
having to change field lengths, checking individual fields, etc.

Now create any form with inbuilt error checking, once only submission from your site, client can preview entries before submission and many more usefull items and security features........

Try it out, I have, and its free for VodaHost users.....

I am back...

I first re-uploaded formproccessor.php, but nothing changed. Still got

Have now deleted everything and reFTPed fmp, checked every file and folder to be sure they are there. Then reinstalled but got into trouble on the installation screen. Msg says "could not select MySQL database. All entries look right to me. I went to cPanel and deleted the first database and recreated. Still same message.

On the first install I got all the way to creating and uploading some form pages, but in test somewhere between the submission and preview pages I got the above message.

Any ideas about what I do next?

Thanks, Charlieku

With form maker pro, can you save an image into the FMP database that was placed into the form via a visitor using a browse button on the form? All form items/fields go into the FMP database , but can’t seem to get the images out of the database. IE: no link. I get this reference to the image in the database (67829928_115x57 smalest right.jpg_._file)

Thanks

For any one that needs this info on opening attachments using FMP! i got this back from form maker pro guys.

We would like to inform you that you can access your uploaded file on your FTP
server in folder "attachments" in your Form Maker Pro directory. You need to
delete "_._file" from the end of the filename. (this extension adding
automatically for the secure reasons, so nobody is unable to upload harmful
script to your server and execute it)

So, by the sound of it! it may be beter to leave as is. & recive the attachment via your email.

Cheers.

Practice makes perfect. Create it and if it doesn't work, either delete it and try again or dig in and find the answer. Someone here could surely fix you right up, but what about next time? Most of all, take your time and have fun with it.

I looked, but didn't see a reply to this question..........anybody have the answer?

Thanks to all in this thread for great suggestions for a smooth install...it's nicer to read up on answers that may work, rather than continually beating my head against the brick wall........

A referrer contains the details of where someone has come from to view your site..
Just leave it blank and fmp will fill it in for you.

Exclamation Re: Form Maker Pro

Hello again! I always learn so much when I try something new, but the obstacles sometimes seem BIG.......

In addition to my "referrers" question above, I'm also wondering where do I delete the "install.php" file from? I got Form Maker Pro to install (as I'm stuck at the referrers screen); however, when I look at Blue FTP, it doesn't show ANY of the FMP files, nor the FMP folder! Should I be concerned?!? And since it's not showing under Blue FTP, do I simply delete the "install.php" file from the downloaded folder?

As always, thanks for "holding my newbie hand" and walking me through this!

Thanks, David! I was dumb--forgot to add the http:// to the URL! Added it and now it won't make me add a referrer.......could still use help with the "delete the "install.php" file, though.

To change a file to chmod 777 in your blueFTP you will right click on the file you choose and click properties then change the seen number in permissions to 777.

I finally got my form maker uploaded to my FTP, changed permissions, but when i go to bring up the install i get a "Http 404 not found". I made sure to check each file piece by piece, changed the permission to 755 and even tried 777. It would be so nice if I could get my form the way I want it. I am bought ready to just forget it and not even have a form page.

Looks loke there isn't an fmp folder in your site. Are you sure that you have created an "fmp" folder in your "public_html" folder ?

If you wish, use myform to send me your loggin information (IP, username, password) so i can have an inside look.

I am having a problem with referrers field when setting up a site. What is the referrer and what is the format supposed to be? After I enter my site URL and tab down to the referrers field it automatically inserts an invalid referrer. I can't seem to change it to one that is acceptable. Thanks.
