Thread: Need Database with simple lookup functionality

I have used BV to generate some simple web pages, this will mostly be used as a portal for remote employees as a central repository for documents (training / markteting materials), etc.

I currently have an Excel based "Lookup" application where I store tens of thousands of records, potential customers that I send direct mail to.

The current excel application allows my employees to enter a record number, and the application brings up the record details.....very simple.

I need this same functionality added to my website, but I know nothing about mysql or phpadmin.

The application must have the existing functionality:

Secure login (I need to be able to easily add/delete users and change passwords)

Secure data.....nobody should be able to see more than one record at a time or download the database

When a record is looked up, I need to update the database with the username, date & time......not sure yet what I want it to do if the record is looked up a multiple times....probably two sets of fields......assigned to (first lookup) and last lookup (any subsequent lookups).

Also want to send an email to myself everytime a record is looked up.

Need to be able to easily add/upload new records from a .csv or .xls or .txt file

I am fairly technical in general, so I would like the quote to include an hour or so of training me so I can learn the process for myself at a high level.

The database will eventually need much more functionality, this is just a starting point.
