Can anyone tell me what the advantages of a dedicated ip address are?

A dedicated IP address is an address that is unique to your site. You are the only site on that address. Name-based hosting will put many sites on the same IP address, as many as hundreds of sites. Only the dedicated IP address assures you that yours is the only site on it.

Dedicated IP means each web hosting account has a unique address, and it is not connected with my website server what's so ever for example.

... yes, your site will be able to handle more traffic and upload way better. Really, you only need this if your site is really popular. If you only get the occasional unique visit I do not recommend it.

Its always better to have your own dedicated IP address.
