is there a way to make your page upload much more quicker when you view it?

If you have loads of pictures and graphics on your website, perhaps you could compress your pictures?

Use some of your pics or graphics as backgrounds?

Or preload your pictures using a preloading script with a message telling browsers to wait while items are loading on the site?
