I can select a script font for text (Amazone BT) and preview it and looks great. After publishing, the font will change to something else, like arial or courier or something. Is this a bug? |

You should be able to see the font. The problem you will find when using non standard fonts is that on other PC's (ie the rest of us who are viewing your site) the fonts will only displayed if we also have that font installed. It is always better to use only Arial, Verdana, MS Sans Serif etc. This is the main reason why almost all websites that you will ever see are created with standard fonts and not special ones. |

The only way I know of to use "fancy fonts" is to type it out somewhere else (like word or photoshop) and save it as an Image file (gif or jpeg). Then insert it into your page as an image. THen it will be "read" as intended by the browsers. This works well for a block of text as well as a line of text. Remember, though, you will have a white box around the text unless you fill the box with a color that matches the background color on your webpage. Of course, you could save the text as a transparent gif and then not worry about the box....but I have not had good luck with that as the edges come out very jagged....maybe a thick font would look ok. Try it and see!

Please do NOT put text into your website as an image - remember - there are computers out there who disable images - and se's won't read that text either. However, for headers, etc - that is what you can do for specific text.

Sorry Bethers....that is the kind of text I was referring to and I should have been more clear.....I mean text as images in things like headers, logos, special things like that. I didn't mean to type your content text and insert as an image. Thanks for pointing that out.

NP, Islandcrazy - but recently after someone else suggested similar - I was on a website that was writing their pages in word - then making it an image and putting the image on the website - so se's really were seeing blank pages - as were people with images off - so funny - but really sad - so, now I try to detail, detail, detail :) and I still miss too much and come off curt cuz I'm always in a hurry!

Hi Bethers, If I create a background or template with Photoshop and save as gif, then import into BV and then I insert text on the template.........will it affect seo? Will the se be able to detect the text? |
