I'm a director and I want to put Quicktimes in my videos page. I went through the tutorials and that's fine but......... I'm putting on my videos page, a small picture of of each video and I want to click on A Picture and that will open another page with the respective video 320x240. Now.... How do I link the picture to another page opening the Quick time???????? Gabriel |

| Hi Gabriel.. I don't know who told you I am the man, but they give me more credit than I deserve. Not to worry mate.. your task is easy, I will prepare something for you and get back on here to have full instructions that you can follow. But essentially, this is how it will work: First we add the images to your video pages. We link those image just like linking any other image to a page that contains the Quicktime PLayer.. But, we will tell the link to open that page is a little popup that has no scroll bars or menus.. we can also add buttons to it so that the person can move to the next or previous video without having to return to the main video pages.. I am assuming thats what you want... right..? |

| Heyyyy: Thanks for the replay. About..."We link those image just like linking any other image to a page that contains the Quicktime PLayer.." Yes.... I want to click on the picture of the video page, and then it will open another page with the quicktime. I understand that but.......I'm kind of lost here.... cause how do I link the picture to the Quicktime? and How do I name the Quicktime page? cause I will put in my video Page 6 small pictures and you will click on any an it will take you to the respective video. Thanks for your help man. Gabriel PS: Check my 1 minute short at this link http://www.newyorkminutefilmfestival...m.mov&offset=0 |

I honestly like your website very much.. you've done an outstanding job. Now.. your question: There are 2 ways you can have multiple video files playing. The first: playing all your files in the one player.. and this is very easy with media player.. the player takes it's clips from something we call 'PlayList'.. The second: multiple 'on call' files.. which is perhaps simpler in your case, no offence, but I would class PlayLists as 'Medium Level" skill and unless you are familiar with scripting for Media PLayer you might find it a little involved. Having said that, we can always help if you insist to have it that way. But, In your case, this is what I would do: Place the images on the videos page, then link those images to different pages, example: image_1 linked to http://mysite/myvideos/video_1.htm.. Now.. your image when linked it will take the visitor to the video_1.htm page, right..? sounds straight forward, well.. it is.. on the page video_1.htm, we will put the quicktime or media player, and tell it to play automatically everytime the page is opened.. Again, we can tell that page to be just like a normal full broweser page, or we can make it a popup.. we can add buttons to it and we can treat it just like any other page where we can perhaps add more images or navigation or whatever you want.. Alternatively, we can just leave it blank with he video playing and no other content.. is that the kind of thing you want..? |

Hey Ez....Thanks. About.... Yes that's correct but my problem start here... How do I create and save these pages. A mean video_1.html ,video_2.html, and so on, cause I know how to create and save a page but I create my links with the Navigation Bar, But I don't want to create a Navigation Bar Botton for each video so...how do I link it. I'm not sure how to explain this. Shoosh. If I click on a picture I see the General and Link window. On the link window what would I type in my URL www.gabrielteran.com/video/video_1.html ???? Gabriel I will do Now a video page and see if you can see it. |

Lets check progress.. I understand, from what I see that you are working on your video pages now.. Great.. carry on... create all your video pages with QuickTime embeded in them.. I am assuming you are telling quicktime to do what you want it to do (ie, auto start.. control button.. etc). Once your video pages are all done, you and I can work on linking them to your main video page, the one with the images. I can see that you have done part of it and it looks good. Now, your domain name is pointed correctly now.. It appears that there was a propegation period that the domain name had to be pointed to VH servers.. Not to worry, it's all good now. Let me know when the video pages are done. One other thing: when the time comes, we need to discuss how you want those pages displayed, normal browser or popup.. and we need to go through the advanatages and disadvantages of popups. Great work mate.. Cheers. |

| No problem Gabriel.. Couple of question: 1. Do your videos play automatically when the page is opened..? 2. Do all video clip pages look identical..? 3. Can you give me a link to one of those pages so I can have a look..? 4. Do you want 'next/previous' navigation buttons..? 5. You can go ahead and create the main video page.. add all images as we can link them at any time. This will help us whether it is best to use a full browser of popup. |

| No worries.. you see, linking to these pages is as simple as one step.. but I'm trying to look at the creative side of things.. for example, if there are other elements on the page, like navigation menus, other articles and stuff like that, then it is best that the page be left as a full browser.. if the page contains only the video player, then may be you want to consider a popup.. but as I said before, linking to the page is a nothing task. (In case of popups, special scripting is required. The popup script will tell the browser how big is the popup, where to position it on the screen when it opens, whether to have scroll bars on it and whether it would let the viewer resize it.) One thing to remember about popups, the script you employ to create popups may not be used on some computers, in which case, the viewer will not be able to have a popup open, also, many people use popup killers that wont let them open. Obviously, you would want to make a little explanation on your main video page saying: 'Please enable the popup feature in order to view these videos'. So, lets decide on whether we want a full browser or a popup. |

The elemntes on the page are the Navigation menu(Home,About, Bio, News, Videos, etc). Then in the middle a Quicktime. That's it. So on the videos page, click a picture and then takes you to that page...video_1 I think is better full browser, so the viewer doesn't have to work. Only open the page and the video will start..... What do you think???? So you know What I did..... I did with BV many pages, the video ones are all the same and save as video_1, video_2, video_3 and so on. So on the videos page, I linked the first picture to www.gabrielteran.com/videos/video_1.html the second picture to www.gabrielteran.com/videos/video_2.html and so on..... Now I do not have wher to link the page I did "video_1 to the first picture or videos Page. G |

| Good work Gabriel.. Linking the images to the pages is simple, in BlueVoda: 1. Right click the image, 2. Select 'Properties' 3. In the properties dialogue box, you will notice 2 tabs, 'General' and 'Link' 4. In the General tab, you will notice a 'Alternate Text' Input field.. That input activiates a little yellow box containing preliminary description of the topic when the mouse is pointed over the image. Add a brief description of what your video related to that image is about. 5. Now go to the 'Link' Tab, in that tab you will notice a few input fields.. a. in the 'Link Type' select 'http:' b. In the 'URL' field type the exact url address to which you want that mage to take the visitor.. Note that url is case sensitive, also, you must include the file extension, example: http://www.gabrielteran.com/vidoes/video_1.html. c. In the target input, you can chose between 'blank' or 'self'.. Blank means that the page will open in a new browser.. 'self' will open the page in the same broswer (visitors can always return to the previous page by click the 'back' button on their browser. d. click ok. That's it.. do the same with every image.. now your images are linked to the pages that contain the videos that play automatically. Let me know your progress. Cheers. |

| Dude.. The video_1 and video_2..... pages do exist.. simply because you created those pages, you called those names (video_1 and video_2 and so on...) then you upload them onto the server.. so they exist.. all you have to do from there, is go back to the images and add the link to those pages.. Unless I didn't understand you correctly.. |
|

| Gabriel.. you don;t need to type the link http://... video_1.. in the video_1 page itself.. no need.. all you have to do is name it video_1. It is the image that is linked that needs to contain the exact url for that page. |

This is in MOZILLa Not Found The requested URL /videos/video_1.html was not found on this server. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. --------------------------------------------------------------------- And this is in IE The page cannot be found The page you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. Please try the following:
HTTP 404 - File not found Internet Explorer ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- you see.....when I created my Navigation Bar There's a General and Style bar. In the general I did create the Bottons(home, bio, videos, bla, bla). That's fine so far and works. Also when I created the bottons, I have to type the links, like www.gabielteran.com/biography.html , That's fine too. Here comes the problem. When create the pages video_1 , video_2 and so on.....I do not have a place where to type www.gabrielteran.com/videos/video_1.html Ok....So I went to my videos page, where I have all the still pictures and try to link them TO THE PAGE video_1 that doesn't really exist . |

YYYEEESSSSSSS......Finally I got ITTTTTT. The "STUPID" mistake was....In the videos page, I click on the pictures, and I was putting as link this.... www.gabrielteran.com/videos/video_1.html and that was wrong. Now I typed www.gabrielteran.com/video_1.html and works. I thought like I was in the videos page, I had to type videos, before video_1. Works so far in IE, it doesn't work in Mozilla. So the last things are....I guess...figure out the Mozilla situation and then finish my contact page, activate an email for people to contact me..... Dude....thanks alot to take the time and help me. You Rock man. G |

| No worries.. I'll have a look to see what can be done about Mozilla.. By the way, if you had created a directory and called it 'Videos'.. then uploaded all those files to it, then the url would be http://.........videos/video_1.html... so as you can see, the '/' means always indicates the directory (folder) the page is coming from.. you might have multi-level folders before you get to your files, example: http://mysite.com/videos/funnu_video...ogs/dog_1.html.. and so on.. So that is something you only know because you are the only one that knows where exactly is the file uploaded.. that's why it would have been impossible for me to catch it myself.. good work man.. well done. |
