Default Getting Error Code 550 for Temp URL

Trying to publish to: A TEMPORARY URL not public as I have a running website with another hosting company while working on BV "offline". Getting Error 550, no such page. I'm using the temporary url given to me. The IP address given to me. The Master Username and Password given to me.

Domain name is rogerwrapit.com and account ID is 7540

but not currently with BV as yet as it's running with **** currently. It was recommended to publish to a temporary url first. I have a paid hosting and paid domain name with BV however. Once I see how it runs in the temporary url I will at that point switch over and override the other website. Or can't I do this?

A 550 error most likely means you are trying to publish to the wrong folder, in the folder box it should say public_html and nothing else.

So a temporary url given to me is non-functional? It's either publish or not? Correct? This is what I'm understanding from your reply. I cannot have a temp site and show it to anyone before 'really publishing'. Or am I not correct?

It's late, I'll check on this tomorrow. Thanks...I'm like "this" far away from publishing and want to have others look first...so I guess it's not possible.

The temp url is to the server for your account. So if you publish to that- you will be publishing to the public_html folder of your account.

If you wish to create a "site-preview" folder so that it is not live with rogerwrapit.com - then you can create a folder in the public_html folder and name it "preview".

Now when you publish the index page for preview- make sure you do it like this:
    public_html/preview

That will put it in the preview folder for you. To show a friend what it looks like and get comments before publishing live- you would link it as follows:
    http: //www.rogerwrapit.com/preview

Is that what you are asking?

    PHP- is a blast!

Yes. Thank you. But I did think it was done differently with the temporary url given me in the email when I signed up (ages ago). But, yes. That helped. The answer I was looking for...:)

Well, I need a rock to fall on my head here! I just figured out how to do this another way. I did a Preview of a page (which I'll do the rest also) and copied the thread from the browser address line and pasted into an email to myself to my other email and it worked!

This is what I wanted to do but thought...it was done right in BV publishing.
So before trying your suggestion, this hit upon me doing it this way instead. But you did help and thank you!

I want a couple people to critique it for me...each page.

Well that didn't work. Throw the rock at me...now. That's a temp link for my hard drive only. I'll do it your way. Will not continue with this thread. Consider it done...thanks. No need to reply.

-First thing, one of your pages has a virus or it came up after I clicked the order form and redirected to: http://www.response-o-matic.com/cgi-bin/rom.pl
    -Colors are nice
-Your picture is a bit out of focus
    -Links seem to be working.

Bill. That's my current site I've had for 3 years. It's not Blue Voda. My BV one is still offline, almost done, still working on it. The other one is Namu6 and using Resonsomatic (an email forwarder) for the order page. That web builder doesn't allow any html/order forms etc.
    Thanks.

Look forward to seeing the new one.
