I thought that when you load files up in ftp, that you would have immediate access to them. Is this not true? I loaded some files up and I don't have access to them.

Apparantely, as I have discovered, the amount of files that show in ftp are limited, they are there, however, you do not see them ....

solution - create a folder up there and load the ftp file into it, you will then see it ....
