Thread: Add An Account

My current account is ethanwain.com. When I add a URL I find that all pages have a URL starting with www.ethanwain.com, like http://ethanwain.com/metroppo.html. Can this be avoided, so the pages read http://metroppo.html, or something like this?

I would like to add a brand new account which would be separate. The URL will be www.sitebildz.com, or something like it. How can I do this? There will be a separate Soho Launch for each of the two sites. How can I create a new Blue Voda account that is completely separate? I will pay for it just like I would pay for any new account.

1)...for anyone to find your page, you must put in the full url
http://ethanwain.com/metroppo.html.

2)...as you want 2 Soho sites, you can just pay for and open another account, just like you did with the first one.

Note: they are not bv accounts they are Vodahost accounts.......

As David says, unfortunatly you have to enter in the whole URL for the pages to be found. If however you're wanting to slim down the link so that it shows as metroppo.html instead of http://ethanwain.com/metroppo.html then you can add the following code to your page.

HTML Code:

<a href="http://ethanwain.com/metroppo.html">Metroppo,Html</a>

You don't have to purchase a whole new account. All you need to do is purchase the second domain name and then add it to your main account as an addon domain. See how here.

By having an addon domain, it does not mean people will know the second domain is connected with your main one. i.e. your main account is ethanwain.com and your second is Sitebuildz.com no one will know that you own both accounts unless you tell them.

As an example of how this works, check out my domain Globalmook.Com and my addon domain Freeresourcedirectory.com in my sig below. Now if i hadn't told you would you know that they are both on one account??

Where do I buy a domain without buying a new account and If I want the addon to have its own name (ex. somesite.com) should I only paste that piece of coding in my sites pages?

No you don't do any pasting of any coding, no.

You can buy an additional domain right from Voda Host, you then add it onto your account, via "Add-On Domain" in your control panel ...

It's pretty easy, and then you will have another website with its own independent url (web address)

A few other things, your main domain gets published to public_html

With the addition of another domain you would then publish its pages to public_html/newdomainname

Always a good idea to set up another file folder on your computer to store the newly built pages in. You will need to again create an index page for this new domain, and by storing in its own separate folder, you will not overwrite your current index page for the domain name you now have ...

Good luck, at times you might find yourself publishing to the wrong domain because you may forget to add the domain at the end of public_html or forget to remove it, but not a problem, just always check to be certain, and if you do this, you can just remove the pages, published incorrectly in your file manager, and republish to the proper domain again ...

Go for two, one will never do!!

From what i understood, you could not have 2 scripts working on one account. As it would be an addon domain and therefore situated outside of the root folder this would be possible or is there a licencing issue which would stop this??

I too am looking to add a 2nd account but I already have a domain name that I would like to use that is currently hosted by Yahoo. Is that ok? I really like the domain that I have and don't want to have to buy another one from vodahost?

That's perfectly fine. Just log in to your domain manager at Yahoo, unlock the domain and then point the DNS (Manage Advanced DNS Settings) to the settings VodaHost provided to you in your welcome email. Once done, lock the domain again.

Then, go to your Cpanel, find Add On Domains and add it to your VH account there. Once you're notified by Yahoo that the change has gone through, you're ready to publish to it if you want.
