    Question Active Site Transfer Question

I am hoping that somebody can provide me with a step-by-step process for moving an active site from SOL to VodaHost. My Client ID is 12047.

I am working on buiding the site using Blue Voda (I don't know what I will do for a shopping cart yet, but that is another problem).

I know that once I build the site and have it posted, I can go to the Domain Name Registrar and have it point to the new site. My problem is how do I get it to upload in the first place. I tried to set up once using the domain name, which was how I thought I was supposed to log in, but then every time I tried to access my VodaHost site, I was redirected to my active site.

I finally had to ask Tech Support to totally reset my site and I have been afraid to touch it since. I am getting ready to start building another site, but I have no clue as to how to upload a site and then get it renamed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You should have received a welcome letter from BV after you purchased the hosting. They give you the info you need to upload your website whether you made it in html or used the BV shell. If you are having problems that this won't fix, submit a support ticket.

SOL is StoresOnline and it is an online web builder. I know that I need to re-create the site with another builder.

I tried setting the site up once and I evidently did it wrong, as I could not access it. I had to have support reset the site. Now, I don't know what to do.

I have transfered my active site to my harddrive so that I can switch to Blue Voda. The Html pages work correctly when i open them but when I try to open them into the blue voda program window opens that says internet explorer is not allowing active x and that page may not look right. I do not know if that is the problem or not but when the pages open in blue voda the words are not correct and the links do not work if they are even there. I have tried several times and the pictures, animations, words and links either do not show up or are all messed up.What do I do?

First of all, you do NOT need to insert your pages in BV, unless you want to modify them. You can simply upload everything (the pages you already have, together with images etc) to your site, using FTP, and they will work.

The active X warning: you mean when you try to preview them after inserting them as html in BV ? if yes, the problem will be solved once published. It is your local computer security that cause this.

It would be better if you insert the pages in BV directly from your live site instead of your hard disk. This way image paths etc will be preserved.

However, BV will NOT import Javascript or php script, if any are embedded in your pages. So, if your links are made through javascript menus, they will not be embedded. Tame goes for external javascript and css files.

BV is a html generator, not a html editor. You can import html, but it is not the most suitable tool for this purpose.
