    Default Naming Metatags

So I have a few keywords (quite alot actually), of which I have inserted them all in the page properties section of my index page.

When going onto page 2, 3, etc. should I just copy all those same keywords into each respective page properties?

Alternatively should I only put in the keywords that I use in the index page, page 2, page 3 etc. into the applicable metatag area of the page properties?

    One more by the way:

Does the same apply to page description? Should I enter a different pd for each separate page or just the one I originally used for my index?

    Thanks,

    Michele

Each page should have its own keywords and description. And if you have more than maybe 15 keywords on any page, you are probably spamming, as you cant optimize for more than 5 or 6 KEY items and the variants of their phrasing optimally. Thats why MOST search engines dont even read the keyword meta tag any more. The description should be descriptive of EACH page along with the title of the page, you should NEVER copy them page to page.

    That's great,

Thanks very much, I think I have about 30 keywords but they can be spread out amongst 7 or 8 pages so hopefully I should be ok, if not then I will just reduce them.

Beth I read your pdf. on SEO and I have a question regarding template based sites. Obviously it seems to be better to have you own unique one, but does that mean that generally the template based sites are not picked up at all?

    Many thanks

    Michele

    Michele,
Actually, I make my own templates - so my sites still have templates.

There doesn't have to be anything wrong with a template - just make sure it will do what you need it to do.
