Thread: My IP address shared by another website

I recently found out on a Whois site
(see http://whois.domaintools.com/celticsymbols.net) that my IP address seems to be shared with another website using another provider!
Can anyone explain why and if it might be a problem for me?
My site is http://www.celticsymbols.net.
Any replies will be much appreciated, as I've been rather left in the dark on this one.

Yes, this is why we call it a Shared IP, everyone on the server shares the main server IP, unless they purchase a dedicated private IP address.

Many thanks for answering my stupid question! I just kinda panicked because on another computer where I had bookmarked my site whenever I clicked on my url a totally strange website appeared. I had to type in the url anew in order to get my site.

What about BlueVoda? Is it a Shared IP? Whats the difference between IP and ISP? I know IP means Internet Provider and ISP means Internet Service Provider, both kinda sound the same to me, but then again, what do I know? Thanks VodaHost

A ISP is the company that provides an internet connection, and IP address a tracking number if you will, of a connection on the internet.
