Thread: 404 erroor on new page

I have added a new page to my site by cloning another page and I am able to publish it but keep coming up with a 404 when trying to access it. when verifying the links it says URL not found what am I doing wrong.

Hi, I can only assume that the page isn’t spelt the same as the link or there maybe a capital letter or space where it shouldn’t be?

Nobody can help you unless you tell us what page your talking about, please provide a link.

Strange! Are you sure you have named the page as just extras & published to your public_html directory. ?

yeah I checked all that and it even says its published

Hi, I assume that when you cloned another page you renamed it to extras?
The only thing I can suggest is going to the cpanel & seeing if its there.
If so! Click on the file & then click on the url that will show on the right hand side of the page in cpanel & see if this brings it up.

now you mention it Chris when I cloned it Im not sure now if I named it extras at this point as it would not allow me and I had to rename it Im not sure now

ah just checked and its saved as a PHP how do I change this

LOL. Go into the page properties area (View/page properties) & change the file extension box to html. Save & re-publish.

PS. I see you were thinking of using the light box? If its for your gallery, you will have to reduce your original image’s dramatically for it to work..
If you need a hand will be able to help tomorrow. Got an early one tomorrow, so must get some Zzzzzz’s now.

Thanks Chris Im not at home today so will change it when I get in, also thanks re the lightbox, do you know will I need to upload all my pics again when using is on thelightbox icon or can I just amend what I have
