Do pages have to contain links to each other in order to show up on internet? Most of my pages are publishing, but some are not. I have a subscription form on my site and when people sign up they go to a refer a friend page that is not linked to the site, but it is not publishing, well it is, but when I go on web its an error page. |

Okay, then 85% of my pages published and are showing up on the internet. The rest are publishing successfully but not showing up on the internet. What could be my problem? Would it matter if I had some of these files saved under a different folder?

Yes, that would matter ... you would need to put the name of the folder in which you have your files in as well ... e.g. http://www.nameofyourdomain.com/name...ameofpage.html that's likely your problem ... domain/folder/page.html

Here is whats interesting. At the bottom of one of the pages that did publish I created links for the pages that did not publish. then I published the page. when I clicked on the links I made, the pages were there, however, if i typed the same page in the address bar they did not show up. the only difference is that the links contained the html at the end. so i typed the url with html at the end and the page showed up. is this the way it should be?

Oh yes .... Name, save and publish your page as NAME ONLY - all small letters, no capitals and no spaces ... When you type the address for the page, whether it be when you are applying linking or merely going to visit the page - you must use the .html extension (The only exception to this is your index page - your main page - retrievable by your domain name only.) Blue Voda converts the .bvp file that you build your page on into a .html file .. therefore to retrieve, YES, you must use the .html extension ...

| Hi, as I said in my post above, Blue Voda automatically converts your .bvp file into .html when published ... Your page is wayofpeace ... you should publish it as wayofpeace - (By default the blue voda webbuilder is set for a html extension) (The .bvp file is the one that stays on your computer for you to make changes and republish at any time) As said above, the .html extension is only used when 1. You type in the address 2. You link the page to another ... The others are probably not showing up because you told me earlier that you put those files into a different folder, other than your public_html folder - if you have indeed done this, you will need to put the name of that folder in the address. Are you reading what I write at all? I am thinking you are replying faster than you are reading? Please try and read, and if you have a different question, by all means ask it, but we are on round Two or Three here, lol ..

No No, I put them in the correct public folder. However, in VodaHost Web Builder they are divided up into different folders, but I did publish them in the correct folder. One of the sites is www.thechristianmeditator.com/referrals If I type this in the browser it does not show up. However, if I type www.thechristianmeditator.com/referrals.html it shows up. So it is in the right folder. You misunderstood. I type slow Let me know if the first one shows up in your browser. |

Could this be the problem - You DO NOT publish with the .html but when you create the link, you DO include the .html in the link..

The first one cannot show up in your browser because you do not have a complete url - address. If you read through my posts I believe you will see the answer to your own question .... name, save and publish as name only - BLUE converts it to .html You must use the .html extension when applying the link or retrieving .. YOU DO NOT ADD THE .html anywhere other than if you type it in your browser, apply it as a link or want to retrieve it ... Is this clear yet, I've said this 4 times ... lol ..

When I did the tutorial it told me that when I create a link to a site in my own page to add html to the end of the link. Is that incorrect? If so, how do i fix this problem and why would it cause the pages without links not to publish?

Okay, I read through the post. So what you are saying is that I did publish correctly but in order to retrieve or see pages in browser I must type in the address including the html ending. Is that correct? If not, im completely lost.

Yes, that's right ..... you got it ... I know, can be tricky getting it straight but you got it now ... Great!!!!!!!!!! And yes, in future take the time to read the responses you are given, see it all helps!! And there is a search feature at the top of the forum that will also help you find things that might be giving you a little problem or even headache, lol ... glad you got it!! I guess I should also mention that for the pages that are part of your site, they are nice if they all link together so you can go from one page to another .. you are likely doing that ...
