Default passing from English to French

www.mexlingua.net. When i try to insert french link and pages, i publish but it is publish in the English pages, so, french comes INSTEAD of English, not by cliking the french icon.
How do i do to put all french pages linked to french icon?

    Thank you

    Martha

You should create another folder at the server called "french" & it will help if you also create one on your own computer called "french". Then when you publish your french pages they should be published to public_html/french/
The link to pages in this folder will be http://www.mexlingua.net/french/mypage.html

Hi, i take it that you have created a new folder in your c panel called french & you are publishing to public_html/french/ & checked spelling/upper case & lower case letters? I might be mistaken? but a 550 usually relates to an email problem?

Hi, it looks like e you haven’t created a sub directory for french? As the link to french should be http://www.maxlingua.net/french/fran%E7ais.html or which ever name you gave the new folder/directory. I noticed that your link is only part of the url http://www.maxlingua.net/fran%E7ais.html
If you are getting more involved with languages you actually might of be better off creating sub domains for each one, as it looks like a site that may grow. I was under the impression that there were just a few pages. But not to worry you can still do it this way.

1st thing to do is delete this page http://www.maxlingua.net/index.html this is not the correct way to have an index page.

2nd Have you created a folder in your c panel called “french” ?

3rd if you have done the above, create a duplicate of your English index page & save it in a folder called french on your home computer. Now re-open this file called index & change the text on this page from English to French. Now you save & publish this file to public_html/french/ to have a link to this page from a Spanish or English page it would look like http://www.maxlingua.net/french/

4th If you then added another page to the French directory called services. You would publish to public_html/french/ & the link to this page would be http://www.maxlingua.net/french/sevices.html

See how you get on from here.

    4. I tried to, but the french page does not open, they say maxlingua.com and I have wrote maxlingua.net in the navigation bars.

You have called one of your pages http://www.maxlingua.net/french/index_fr.html I assume you want this as your home page for the French area?
If so, on your home computer, rename this page to index only & save in your French folder. (Do not put fr or html onto the file name, just index) Now publish this page to public_html/french/
You will be able to get to the page via http://www.maxlingua.net/french/

    Me again,
you talked about subdomains. I've created for french.maxlingua.net
How do I configure the pages for them to go into there? and once done, only by publishing in publish_html is enought?
    Thanks again

Hi, when you created the sub domain called “french” it will have created a folder in the public_html directory called french. So! Publish to this folder. public_html/french/
The link will then be http://www.french.maxlingua.net for your index page.

Hi, Well done! "Best learning curve is finding the problem".
Yep, same with the Spanish sub-domain.
It will take a little longer, but it would be good practice to link to the same page in each language & not just to an index. Same in reverse.

    Good luck.

At this stage you should have on your home computer, your BV folder with your English pages & a further 2 folders with your French & Spanish pages in. These will be duplicates of your English pages but written in the appropriate languages. So if your main site is 10 pages you will now have 30 pages on your home machine.

You should also have on your website side a public_html for publishing your English pages, & a 2 sub domains for your French & Spanish.

All your English will go here. public_html/
All your French will go here. public_html/french/
All your Spanish will go here. public_html/spanish/

You now have to publish all your pages to each appropriate directory/folder. Remembering that you will have 3 of every page but published in different folders/directory’s.

Hi, I see there are now 3 areas on your site (which is good) I think what is happening is you created 2 subdirectories/folders called French & Spanish. I think what’s happened is that you then created 2 sub domains of the same name.
Its possible they are conflicting in some way. Is it possible that you have 2 folders in the public_html directory call Spanish or French?
Your getting to the stage where it will be quicker to delete all you have published & republish correctly. It will only take less than ½ hour. If you want me to have a look you will have to send me your details.
I have sent you an email with my details.
