Thread: Info on making other people web sites

I am starting my own web design business and need to know the rules about creating and posting their sites through BluebVoda.Can you please help me on this issue?
I need to know if there are any rules or guidelines against this.

There are two ways you can do that.

1- You purchase the domain name and purchase the hosting account from Voda Host. You create their website.

2- The customer purchases the domain name and purchases the hosting account from Voda Host and then you are appointed as the web master and go ahead and create the site.

#1 method- opens you up to liability as to what the company does or has on their site and any arising litigation.

#2 method- you are simply the web master.

1)Can i purchase new domain names and publish them through my site and my ip?
for example:
My site is www.fanosdesignsolutions.com , can i just purchase a new domain name and have it come as its own individual name like www.martyntheelctrician.com through my ip?

or

Do i have to specifically purchase an ip address and domain name for each and every site that i am creating for my customers?

Hi, if each extra site you added to your account is for your own use, there would be no problem. But if you make a site for someone else & add it to your account, this would be classed as reselling & would not be allowed.
If you are making a site for others, you would be far better letting them open an account with VH via some instructions, & then you getting there login details & building the site for them.

Yes, that's right, in other words, every site you build for a client, requires that client to have their own voda host account .. You can have each client sign up from your "own" affiliate ID. You will also have made a sale, just as voda host does. The affiliate program with Voda Host is second to none! Every client will require their own domain name and this is FREE for the client when they join Voda Hosting. Have your client sign up for their hosting account from an email you deliver to their inbox, insert the link to voda host that includes your affiliate ID. You cannot build websites for your clients and add them or host them with your own voda hosting account.

Yes! Your client pays direct to VH.

You are making a sale via telling your client to click on an affiliate link on your site or via an email you have sent them. (Join affiliates) You would have to join VH affiliates. And you would only get a pay out if your client hasn’t been to VH before.

They join VH as any other user would. They will then receive via email details on there account. These details can be forwarded to you so you can work on the site.

Okay, I am providing services to my clients so that they do not have to go through the hassle of signing up through different companies.Clients want the web design company they are going through(fanosdesignsolutions) to be able to build their site and take care of hosting procedures for them.

Can i register for a domain name and hosting on behalf of my client through my billing account? This way they will have their own domain and ip for me to post their site on and the client will not be involved with the sign up process since i should be able to do this for them?

No.

If you are building a website for another person/company- it must be a seperate account.

That said: the account can be purchased/owned by you or the other person/company.

Anything short of this is reselling or hosting and is not allowed.

Hi Fanos,

there are solutions to all problems.

yes, you can use your billing account, to get a new account for each client. And, you can also get your affiliate commission, though you sign up through your own computer, by submitting first a suport ticket telling VH that you are a design bureau and that you are going to signup for a new client.

However, it would be wise that you provide your client's details during the signup procedure, so that the domain results to their name and not yours. This way you will not have the liability for content that will probably be posted on their site (although i understand that you will be the webmaster, you never know in the future....)

1)Is it mendatory for me to post the VodaHost web hosting links on my website?

2)Do i have to post a certain amount of links or is it left to my discretion?

3)How many links do they provide you with to post on the site?

3. ? VH provides a number of banners based both on VH logo and on BlueVoda Logo. In total they are more than 20 - 30 . This doesn't mean you ned to use all of them, choose the ones that better suit you.

1)I cannot sign in to my bluevoda with my eamil and my password that was provided for me.

2)My ip is not listed when i try to publish my website.Why is this?

I have got my email on the 16th and it explained for me to wait for 24 to 72 hours it has been a 24 hours after that and stil nothing.

1. Sign in in Blue Voda ? you mean your site ? you can not login with your email and password, you need to login with your username and password.

BV gets updated very often with the new IP addresses, as new servres are added. Please download the last version and your IP address will be there.

2) If i wanted to add some flash to my site where do i go about doing this? I mean i watched the tutorial for this but how do i get flash images and etc. on to bluevoda program or file? I would really like to add some flash to my site. Is this going to cost me more money?

Hi, you add your BV affiliates links before you publish & enter them into a HTML box.
Flash is made with a separate program & then added to BV, & is not actually a part of BV.

I don't know what happened but when i try to page preview my sites i keep getting UNEXPECTED FILE FORMAT and it won't let me do anything.

K i am having issues posting a new thread for a new prblem i am having. My site is already on the internet and this does not look good. What is wrong with this. Short of being there and looking at your page in the BV web builder- it is difficult for us to say.

Did this happen all of a sudden where the page got all jumbled up?

Was the site up and running for a while and this occured after adding something to the page?

Have you tried rebuilding the page from scratch?

No links work. I suspect that you have added something to the page that has a major conflict with the coding.

Also- I have seen your other pages and you really need to reduce the width to fit at least with in 1000px wide. Yours is set to 1144px and causes a sideways scroll on my screen with a resolution of 1024X768. Your page width is way above industry standard. Just a thought.

Yes it pretty much happened all the sudden where the pages got jumbled all the sudden. I have not changed anything but the alinging of the pages so they are all the same and this happened. It isn't like i added anything to the page. I would understand if i added something and it caused a conflict but i didnt. Really wierd. The page was up and running for a while. I noticed that the pages were not alingned properly so all i did was move things to the left or right a little bit. I tried to republish them and this happened.

I have also tried to rebuild the page from scratch and everytime i add something after the html and conncting you to the world it throws it off. Like it puts the rest way at the bottom of the page and give me no scroll bar to go down.

1)My site was published. It worked fine. Nothing was wrong with it. Already online and published.

All my pages did not line up with each other on the net. I went into bv and grouped all the content on my pages and lined them all up so they are all in the same spot on the pages. This means that when u go to my index page and then click on my about us page the top of the page where i have all the same info on each page don't jump from right to left.
THIS IS NOT RELAVENT.
All i did was move everything that is on the index page to the left a little bit.

K say that all the content was aligned in the middle of the page right? All i did was move align it to the left. Tha is all and everything messed up.

I don't get this. I have tried everything and nothing has worked. Waht do i do?

How do i add bidding to a site? I want to add a bid option so that people can bid on a variety of different products on a website that i am creating.
And i also have to add an option for people to register and sign in.Will these options need there own specific pages to them selves? I have been looking all over the forums but i didn't find anything. Maybe i am searching in the wrong places or entering the wrong search words..

I am creating or redesigning my site through macromedia flash 8 and was just wondering how the emails would work on my contact page. Would people have to go through their email to send me a message or will they be able to click on my email through the flash site? I don't think i can make a link through the flash sight to go to Microsoft outlook unless i am missing something which could be possible. Can you help me please?

I have no experience with Flash sites, but it would seem absolutely impossible that it would not allow you to include email links in your pages, or contact forms (processed somehow, with some cgi or php script).

I ordered a domain for a client of mine. You sent me the login info but i have not recieved any type of ip address for me to publish the site. All i got was ... in the area where it is supposed to tell me the actual ip number. I can not publish my clients site and my client is waiting on me. Can you please please help me on this?

Your client also needs to order a voda hosting account. This information you will receive when the client orders a voda hosting account .. so check and see if a hosting account was also ordered, not just the domain name or you won't be able to publish.

I need to add scripting to one of my clients websites. What i need to know is if Vodahost has Mysql enabled on the servers? I will be adding a bidding, register and logiin script and need to know if there is anything i need to do beofre publishing or if i can just add the scripts and publish to the servers. Will the servers keep track of the info for me or how does this work?

Yes, VH allowes you unlimited MySQL databases. The servers do NOT keep any track of anything, your script should do this. And, before you purchase the script, you should check it's requirements against VH features

Are we able to run PHP 4.1 or later? and Are we using Apache version 1.3, 2 or 2.2? or does this even matter?

VH has php 5.2 installed on most servers, in any case a version later than 4.1 and Apache 2.2.8.

If you already have an account, just have a look at your Control Panel, all these questions will be answered immediately as it is all written there.
