    Question Existing publications

    Hello BV geniuses!
I have 2 questions here to tease your mind with...

    Question 1.

I would like to know; whenever I republish a page does this override my existing one? Or is there a bunch of old web pages in my files that I need to delete?

Question 2. I have a photo editing software that allows me to upload my finished photos directly from that program to my ftp server, I had all the info asked or entered I guess until I came to port: How do I find out what port I use? I looked on the email I was sent with all my info and nothing about port; just link, username and psw for ftp?

Thank you guys so much for you help if you can help these weird questions.

Are youwanting to link to the photos...or are they part of the page?
If they are part of the page they will be uploaded automatically when publishing the individual pages if you have them positioned on the page.
Otherwise, if memory serves me right it will Port 25.
I'm sure someone will come along shortly with the answer.

Yes it will override old pages

    Question 2.
Since you have not mentioned the name of the program...I can not assist...But I am sure it comes with complete instructions in the help file.

Sorry about that. The program is Photoshop elements 6. When your in the program and after you finish your photo editing you can save to your pc (which I normally do) or you can chose to upload to a ftp from Photoshop. I thought I would try this out but it asked for port? Which I had no idea what that was all about being I did not receive anything about port info...

Thanks for your help so far. I greatly appreciate it. I just want to know everything that I can do with this software. I am intrigued!

Hi, just as an extra point! Yes it will overwrite your page that is at your server. The only thing that it tends to do is leave any images at the server. These won’t show on your site, but can accumulate at the server & start to look a bit messy. You would have to go into your FTP or cpanel to remove them.

    Good luck.

    Red face Re: Existing publications

Well thank you guys for the help. And yes the Photoshop comes with instructions and was read completely. It informs on how to send to ftp and replies that you need username, psw, and port. The instructions do not give the port #. I will use the standard one that navaldesign has posted and see if this works.

    Thank you once again!

    Have a GREAT Holiday....

ALL ftp software uses port 21. It would be very strange if it is not so.
