Why does my index page appear on the right side of the screen when I publish the page ? It does not happen for the other pages!

Well without knowing where you page is we can only guess.

Perhaps you do not have your page widths set correctly or did not begin the build top left corner of your page on this one? maybe you have an element outside of your page set page width, select all and look for any blue handles elsewhere on the page, do you have center in browser ticked? A few possibilities to consider ...
