Thread: I get index of / Whats this? please help

Hi I'm Lyndsey, I'm new.
Ok i registered my domain name a couple of days ago, I have done my web page and published it, but when I type my domain in the browser to view my page, I get awhite pagewith "Index of /" at the top and then a list of names of the images (including my homepage title) which when you click that it does take you straight to my website.

Is this on because I only opened my account 2 days ago and registered my domain name at the same time, or is this a problem that I need to sort? And how?

Well, if you watched the tutorials, the very first thing you'd learn about naming your pages - is that your home page HAS TO BE NAMED index - just that - index - all small letters, nothing else -

You have no index page, therefore whatever is supposed to be your home page cannot be seen when you click on your domain name.

ok I renamed my page 'index' and it put .bvp on the end automatically.

I published my sit again after I had changed the page name but its still got that Index Of / page. Do I have to give it a while to publish or take effect?

Your site is coming up fine for me. I suggest you refresh your computer - it's cacheing the old page. If that doesn't work, reboot.

Hit the 'reload' button on your browser.

Thank you for your help Beth I restarted my computer and its working fine now.

Now I have another problem. There is 4 images that are showing as a whitebox with a red cross in. ive tried not overlapping them and moving them around and all sorts but I can't get them to load on. What can I do?

All my other images have gone on fine.

Well, I answered this in one of the 3 threads you started on it. Deleted 2 of them - kept one - the answer is there.
