I can see you have a sitemap for your site visitors which is fantastic, but if you want one more visible to the SE's then this is a different type of sitemap.

Go to http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/ and download an UNCOMPRESSED sitemap to your server, then link to it from your index page.

If you need any help just shout.

i have been on the site ...do i just type in my web address and leave all the other setting as they are?

Yeah that's fine.

It will then generate several sitemaps in various formats, you want to go with the uncompressed one which I think will be at the top of the list.

also when i go on other peoples site maps they have php on the end of there web address...mine is html? is this ok..


OH GOSH...witch one do i down load from the site.....

Yes don't worry about other people's sites, this is fine... If I remember correctly it's the first one you want.

I have to go out for 20 mins, but very quickly.....

Now place the file onto your public_html folder either by FTP or by your CP > File Manager.

Once on there then link to it form your index page like thus:

http://www.little-butterfly.co.uk/sitemap.xml

Will be back in 20 mins.

you better come back...hehheee....or my computer will go outa the window!!!!!!!!!

BOTH. Put it on your homepage.. somewhere discreet, use font size 8 and type the word 'Sitemap' Link it to the sitemap using the link I gave you and make sure you put 'blank' in the target field.

Then on your Google webmaster tools enter the same url.

ok i did that all...on my index page you see sitemap all the way done at bottom of page. click on it and it will not open...this is right? as it was set at blank.
now i just submit that address to google!
i think i have it now..looks like i was typeing to myself there lol

No not right.. it should open... I sent you an email with a file attached. Remove the one you put on the server and replace it with the one I emailed you.

Make sure you put this file INSIDE your public_html folder. If you are unsure how to do this let me know.

No this is not the issue. I am concerned about how you have placed it on your server.

clicked connect
found file
clicked file
clicked move to pub folder.

am i missing something?

then i went to my index page added it as sitemap at the botton. linked it as http://www.little-butterfly.co.uk/sitemap.xml and re published

I can't see what you have done wrong.. It's hard to tell without seeing exactly where this file is.

its on my desk top...should i save it in the blue voda ..where all my other pages are?

Won't make a blind bit of difference. It's not where it is on your PC it's where it is on your server and I have an idea it's not where it should be.

make sure the file is saved as a .xml file too.
