Default Help with root directory scripts

No doubt several users have had failed attempts when using Fantastico to install optional mods such as joomla, wordpress, etc.

The install will fail, and the user receives the following message.

The installation can not be completed:
You cannot install more than one script in the root directory of a domain.
Click on the browser's Back button to fix reported errors.

Here is the step by step procedure required to correct this problem.

1) log in to your Cpanel
2) Scroll down to the file manager section and click on the "File Manager" icon.
3) Click on the "radio buton" next to "Web Root" (public html/www)
4) Place a "checkmark" in the little box next to "Show Hidden Files".
5) Next click the "GO" button to enter the File Manager.

Once in the File Manager, you will see on the left side your "Root Directory" , which will display "(/home/your master user name)"

Example: /home/qguitpnd

On the right side you will see a window with your files.

To remove the unwanted script from your root directory.

1) Go to the left side
and click on + sign next to your Root Directory...this will expand
your root directory to reveal all of your folders. Now you should see a
folder titled .Fantasicodata.

2) Click on the "WORD" ".Fantasticodata" ...do not click on the folder.

3) In the right hand window where your files are listed, you should see a
file named " Installed_In " ....also you will see the file type listed as
"application/x-httpd.php" . This is the file that you need to delete,
in order to clear your root directory of the unwanted script.

4) Highlight the " Installed_In " file , then from the above menu click
" Delete " to remove the file. Then exit the File manager, your done.

I realize this may seem like a lengthy procedure, however this entire process takes less than a minute even for a novice user.

Suggestion: Before you execute these procedures, it may be a good idea to print the procedures.

As always, back up your files and make certain not to delete files that you need. In essence, if you are not sure what the file is....leave it alone.
