What is the best way to shut your site down while you add content?
It's not usually necessary to close down your site whilst you update the content but, in the past, when I have been making lots of changes, I have published a temporary index page with a scrolling marquee explaining that the site is being updated. Occasionally, when making major changes, I've published a temporary index page explaining the site is being updated and not including any links to elsewhere in your site therefore halting any use.
In your local (on your pc) BlueVoda folder - rename your current index page to something else and then make a new temporary one. Once all is sorted you can rename the original index back to index and repulblish and all is back to normal.
