Question Deleted pages still publishing

I have deleted all my old pages and re-published following a major re-vamp. However, when I go to the website my old deleted pages appear and not the new pages. Any idea how I can resolve this. I have re-booted the computer after deleting the old pages and publishing the new.

Hi, have you deleted them using the either FTP (or better) via the cpanel.

Hi Interpreter,

I have just did that myself:

I went to my cpanel, to public_html, and deleted all files ending bv, that match the pages I want to delete, and deleted as well al html files matching the names of the pages I have published.

Worked fine for me...

Hi Interpreter,

To log in to your cpanel, you have to use your details provided in your login info e-mail sent by vh.

you have to go to:

http://74.***(server ip address)/cpanel.

There you will find option: file manager.

Select public_html.

You will find all your published pages there.

Any more help needed, please keep posting.

Susana

I think your on VH25 server
If so! go to the link & put in your user name & password & enter.
When your in this area, click on file manager & then click on the public_html folder (Not the text). You will now see all your pages, images & any files. Click on one that you want to delete & on the top right hand side of the page will give you some commands. Choose delete.
Its a lot quicker to do this via FTP, BUT! you don't get a second chance as there is not waste bin with this choice.

Ah! need some speed typing lessons. lol

Question Re: Deleted pages still publishing

Chris and Susana - Wow what support!!!!!

I have eventually found my CPANEL but apart from some obvious files which I have deleted the rest are just gobbledygook to me. Chris, I have also used your link and cannot find anywhere to enter a username or password. It just goes direct to cpanel. As far as the server is concerned my IP starts 74.XX etc This is not a good Friday!!

Hey.. just calm down...

Your published pages end as html

Gif, jpeg, images, if you want to delete them, but not shure of which they are, you can allways open them, check in VIEW (top of page) if it is a picture you REALY want to delete, and if you do, just go ahead!

Cool Re: Deleted pages still publishing

Susana,

Well I visited cpanel and deleted all the obviously incorrect files with html extensions. So now my site comes up with the correct index page but the first link goes nowhere. I have checked the link URLs assiduously and they are absolutely correct with correct spellings etc. but goodness knows why it will not go to the next page. I have re-published the index page again to make sure it is ok. I think I'll go and have a cup of tea and let out a few expletives!!!

If you deleted all html files you will have to publish all other pages again.

Tea consumed. Expletives let loose! I have been able to get from the very first screen to the first print - SUCCESS - but no farther. All pages have been re-published but as I understood it one only needed a lower case letter for the page name for "index". Chris suggests otherwise so I will go and alter all the others, re-publish and see what happens.

What fun ! However, very many thanks to all who are helping.

EUREKA I have found that I have saved the files with a capital letter but the link uses a lower case letter. Will now proceed to finish the site - I hope. So very many thanks to all of you. What a great community! This time I shall have a glass of Shiraz/Cabernet Sauvignon blend.

Hi, everything with all links & html as recommended by VH should be done in lower case letters with the use of _ or - for splitting words. There are many good reasons for this if you have a search on other forums.
Worth a note of "just because it works doesn't make it correct"
