The easiest way I've found of achieving that is to use the gallery feature in BlueVoda (one of the buttons on the side menu). You could use PIXresizer (available from the new support helpdesk>downloads) to set your images to a size that will load quickly. You can have one or several images per gallery, set them so they look small on your page and then when they are clicked on they pop up in a new window at the actual size you resized them to.
Alternatively you could have a set of thumbnail sized pix on the main page and make each one a link (using the link tool - buttons at top og BV) to a full size pic on a seperate page.
