I am trying to create a pop-up window(log-in) to show on top of the home page. Sorry if I am not asking the right question. Anyhoo, thanks in advance.

Cheeseeeist!
Cyber
just use the search box at the top of this page to view the many posts on this subject...............
Thanks David but I did the search. I didn't see anything close to what I wanted to do.

Cyber
Create a page that you want to show in the popup window & publish it. On the page you want the popup to appear in, create a normal url link from some text or an image & check the open in a popup window box & adjust to suite your page style.
Yeeeehaw!!!! Thanks Chris.....I appreciate it.

Cyber
You guys beat me to it, me just sitting here working into the night....
As Chris said, you need to create the page separately, and link it, but remember to create it so it displays well in your "pop-up" (size of page according to how you set your pop-up to display).
To make it somewhat interesting, I have 3 different versions of scripts to use that you can choose from (you can change the "settings" shown in red):
WITH SCROLLBAR
#" onClick="window.open('http://www.yoursite.com/yourpage.html', '','scrollbars=1,width=300,height=200'); return false;"
FIXED PAGE POSITION (set where on the monitor you want it placed)
#"onClick="window.open('http://www.YourSiteName.com/pagename.html','','scrollbars=1,width=500,height=200,left=130,top=235'); return false;"
WO Scrollbar, as for Email:
#"onClick="window.open('http://www.YourSiteName.com/page_name.html','','scrollbars=0,width=500,height=500,left=200,top=300'); return true;"
Well? Did I still do good?![]()

I am not breaking any cigar box yet.....cuz it's not working. Alright, I wanted the pop-up window(log in) to show on top of the home page(index). It suppose to pop up when you visit the site almost like an ads. Thanks a million :)
Cheeseeeist!
Cyber
Oh, you mean an auto-pop, right?? And the other version is an under-pop...(where is pops-up under the page, so you see it after "exiting" the page). The scripts above were to be inserted in the URL field of the Hyperlink box within BV to produce a "new browser" pop-up....
Well, we don't suggest, support, or provide means to do that here in VodaLand. It is a practice that is nefarious at best, and best not associated with the High Standards of Web Building "Best Practices" that VodaHost is known for.
However, if you Search www.DynamicDrive.com or www.HotScripts.com or www.scriptatry.net or even http://www.phppod.com you might still find a script that would allow you to do this .... might. The industry has spent millions developing technology to block them in the last few years, so I wonder if that is really the way you want to go after all????

Might also do the trick.

Yeah, Chris .... I know. You didn't seem to pick up the point I was trying to make.
This "source" is a prime example of how these scripts (tactics) have been relegated to the "back room" in web design. And, this Mickey-Mouse House is not really 'free' either....
Beware, Cyber!
I have to say it is not a pop up {ads}. It is just a pop up to log in. :P You know like entering a door....lol I shouldn't say ads at all cuz it confuses peepers more......Anyhoo, I would give it a try to see if that works this time.....Thanks alot you are the greatest!

Cyber
LOL you are so funny........EZ on the ground....... :P
Anyhoo, I will try what you said......K

Popup to log in................?¿?¿
or just a popup to display something.......please explain a little better cyber
its a pop-up to log in
Cheeseeeist!
Cyber
As Vasili pointed out........popups are a pain in the a.se
Why not have a login text link/image on your homepage instead ?¿
here's what I wanted to do but it's like two different page at the same time. But what Vasili say is way too easy :)
http://www.cybercoinexchange.com
Cheeseeeist!
Cyber
give me the 2 page url's so that I can understand what you are trying to achieve.............
Are you saying that you want people to see your home page with a login form and that they must login to enter the rest of your site ?¿
Yes :)
Cheeseeeist!
Cyber
Hey Cyber, why not let them go to your home page, look around but if they want to continue (past the home page) have the log-in pop up?
Well here we go then........
Make room for your login form(doesnt need to be really big) on your home page.
after they hit the submit or join button, get the form to open the next page that you want them to see....this page will then have further links into your website.
The point is that your home page will not contain any links, directions etc, but no links.....to go any further they will have to fill in the login form or register for the first time.
to recap..........2 links only.....register now and the link from your form.
Why make it so complicated? Why not just "design" a simple "Login Box" which is essentially just a link to a password protected directory where she can publish those pages that are reserved for authorized visitors? (the protected directory pops-up it's own login dialog: Example "Authorized Logon" BTW, this is the Main Portal to the site, which is "split" and has a protected area on one side as seen in the example. Point is, there are a couple of EASY ways to do this ....)
That way, she can have a "public access" site for visitors to wander around in and learn, and a protected side for the benefit of those who are allowed.....
If she wants to create a login/registration process in conjunction with that "Logon Box" she should use Watdaflip's Login Script (which is simple and easy to implement without having to go through the complicated ABVFP or AMember methods).
But...whatever you guys think is best. I am just throwing my tidbits onto the table..... LOLOL
Thats not complicated, as both pages already exist...............
but I acknowledge the fact that there is always more than 1 way to skin a cat......and every little helps when you are not getting answers.
have fun which ever way you do it.
Alrightey! I appreciate y'all trying to help me. You are all simply the best.
I guess, I will go skin the cat.....LOL Nah I am kidding David

OK...here is your script, and we need to identify and change the values that governthe "styles", particularly the SIZE of the BOX/form itself, right?:

As you can see in red, I highlighted the "BV Shapes" that are creating the background and border of the box, but that is as far as I got on this one. Until you tell me exactly where this came from, I will not attempt to suggest anything, as different sources mean different things to me: if it was generated by BV, then everything has to be attentively tweaked (the styles, the inner positioning, etc.); if it came from another script source, tell me where, so I know whether to approach it as a Java or other type. ETC, ETC.
LOL.......Yikes that's alot :)
Cheeseeeist!
Cyber
The only thing I can think of is not made by BV is the logo......
Cheeseeeist!
Cyber
Anyhoo, That's should be in the beginning of the script.....Isn't it???
Cheeseeeist!
Cyber
Well, like I said "over there", if you made this in BV (either via the BV10 Wizzard or manually), you should be able to easily edit the Properties, or at least manually re-size as you would a normal shape: even the old "From" object could be manually re-sized --- and unless BV10 restricts you to the Wizzard, Properties should allow you to edit as well.
And I being too complicated? I think I am....
I am definitely not good at scripts: I have 2 staff programmers because of it, and the VT residents that can do it themselves are Gen. Naval, Watdaflip, Mook25, and Motoxxx. Matter of fact, Gen. Naval is closely into the last release of BV, so he would know how to tweak the BV Unicode probably more than anyone. You can reach him via www.DBTechnosystems.com
Nah I think I am out of the cloud now bcuz of YOU!! Thanks
