Thread: Why wont my page publish? (new user)

Im new to this, im trying to publish my first page. Ive done what the video tutorial tells me- inputted the IP address given in the welcome page etc- I get a message which says published successfully, but then when I check to see if I can find the web page online I just get the server not found message- problem loading page.
Sorry if this is obvious- im a little overwhelmed by how much I dont know.
Any advice would be much appreciated

No I didnt. I only have one page to publish at the moment- should I just go back and rename it as "index"?

Correct! Your 1st page should be called index

Are you registered with the forum or have you paid for your hosting?

i have the same ,or similar problem,yes i have named my page index.html,so why do i get the message "successfully published" when i can't find my site on the web???

It should not be index.html but simply index nothing more. GO back and "save as" your home page and republish. Do not add anything to it, it will add the extention itself once you publish. Note if you have any forms on the page you will have to go into the page propertie and chane the file type to php then publish, then when you link the address will include the php extention not html. Hope this hasn't confused you more. Good Luck
