Default adding pages after index/homepage created

    Hi,

I have created the index.page for my site. I have read a few posts on adding new pages, clone pages etc but not getting specific enough info. Cannot find any infor on Clone pages in the tutuorials either. There's plenty on naming pages but that isn't quite what I need to know.

I tried to add a clone page and it popped up already named as index....._clone

Then when it asked for filename, I thought I had to name the page e.g. Contact but it said file not found.

Now, I'm really confused. I tried just adding 'new page' and didn't get too far either.

Please someone help me before I get too frustrated. I thought this would be easy once I had the index page created.

Just create a new blank page and save it as contact......

Put a couple of items, text or images on your contact page
    and then publish it.

Now you have 2 pages on your website............

provide a text or button link to your contact page (from your index/home page)
and a link on your contact page back to your idex/home page and
then you will have a better idea of what is involved.

You can then create a new contact page using the form wizard or buy a ready built bluevoda Contact page which you can then add to your website.

Any further questions.......please post here again.

To use the clone feature simply click the clone icon, find the page you want to clone (index for you) from the list, it will say (in your case index_clone). Click file/save as, and then name the page what ever you want, now you'll have to go into page properties to change the title of the page as well and make any changes you want. Note the best way is to create the basics of the page first (all the elements you want on all the pages) and clone that before you add elements and content specific to that page. Now you save the page and publish, presto two pages. You will still have index_clone in your BV folder so when ever you want a new page open existing page/ index_clone and repete the process.

Hey thanks for this; it sounds easier than I thought. Just one other thing- they say to name the homepage file index.home.bvp or whatever but when I name the other pages, do I always have to put e.g. index.home_contact ?

What is the format for additional page file names?
    :)

ONLY save the index page as
    index
nothing else. let BV do the rest

your home/index page should be found thus:

    http://http://websitename.com

(replace websitename.com with your own website address/url)

Additional pages are linked by using
    i.e. http://websitename.com/pagename.html

Expanding on David's Post, when you save additional pages name them what ever best fits the page. e.g. jewelry, about_us, what ever. Use only lower case letters, no spaces, no extentions. To title your page click on a blank area of your page, right click, select page properties and title it how ever you like (here you can use caps and spaces). Understand?

Yes this part I do. What I'm confused about is that index filename representing homepage.

If it is index.bvp for all the homepages of my different websites, how do I know which is which?

I thought I had to identify the index page for each website by doing this:
    e.g.
    index.drev

    then next page e.g.

    index.drev-sepanx

I tried to do this too for the additional page, and it didn't work:

    index.drev/sepanx

I know you advanced geeks must be chuckling away at this.
I know I will get there eventually. Sometimes the instructions in the tutorials miss steps for newbies.

Each site must have an index ( home page) do not add extentions to any of your pages (it is dine for you). As for knowing which index is for what site, each site should be kept seperately on your computer. Create a folder within your BV folder for each site and have the different pages for each in their respective folders. Because each site (if it is not an add on) will have different log in properties so it should be easy to keep track of.
