Question English/Spanish translation & Meta Tags?

    Hello to all!
I am translating my pages from English to Spanish to give visitors a language choice (So I am Duplicating existing English pages and changing text to Spanish) and I am wondering about the Meta tags.

Should the 'Page Title, key words, description' also be translated to Spanish or is that not important? Also, should I change the wording of the meta tags (Page Title, key words, description) so that it does not look like a duplicate to the search engines?

I hope that all makes sense.. lol
    thanks in advance

Well.. trying to fool the search engine isnt a good idea. Keyword meta tags arent as important as the description. You could drop the keywords altogether, but if you keep them.. the meta, title, description should all be translated as well. The SE are pretty smart when it comes to seeing that the page is in a different language and thereby not crediting it as a duplicate page, but more a VERSION of the page intended for a different audience.

    Thanks for your reply Karen.
I am trying to avoid penalties rather than trick the engines.
So I will try to get this straight in my head. If I drop the key words altogether on the Spanish pages, does that mean I don't need to translate the remaing meta tags?
Also... more of your time/experience, would you advise to keep & translate the meta tags or not bother with meta tags at all? (for the Spanish pages)

    Thanks In Advance
    TIA
    Thanks

NO.. do the meta tags in spanish too

You can drop the keywords meta tag if you want.. doesnt count in most engines any more.. but you MUST use the description one...So.. if it confuses you less.. keep them all and translate them.
