Thread: Restoring from back-up

My site was hacked through my wordpress just before christmas, and just before it was reset, I made a full back-up as requested by the very helpful Vodahost customer support team.
I am now finally in a postion to get it al set up again. I have republished the site, but are now looking at getting the my wordpress, e-mails and so on back in place. How do I do this I have a 'Raven Pages.site' file and when I use that it say restoring data base but nothing else happens!?

1. How do I do this?
2. How do I make hacking in through Wordpress less of a threat?

Did you do a sql backup ..or the entire site backup.. ? Most likely it was the first..where your files are in the database.. you would then contact the wordpress site about restoring your structure etc...and archives and so on. You would also need to contact wordpress about keeping it updated and more secure.

You probably will need to recreate your email accounts in cpanel

I'll Contact them. I just didn't want to go through all the effort if I could just upload my back-up. I've set up my e-mail again, thanks? Is all the previously recieved e-mails, gone then?

Yeah .. most likely unless you saved em on your computer ...and used windows mail or outlook.

Well. I dont know if you can just upload your backup or not.. I dont know what your backup was or how it was created. Most likely sql, so youd redo the wordpress, then run the database backup etc..but.. i dont know without going to read the docs myself.
