Default How to upload pictures in my document/pictures to my recently added on domain?

    Hi,

I recently purchased a domain name from another company and requested its transfer. As the domain name is not 60 days old, I am told it's not going to happen just now and received this message from VHost support

'Your domain pointers are set correctly, so you can begin using your account at VodaHost until the time transfer is initiated'

I don't really understand what that transfer means (or will do) in 60 days time. Anyway, upon the recipt of the above information, I just reckon I can go about doing the usual stuff with the domain and its public_html folder.

I added this new domain via 'add on domain'

At the moment, BV is simply a hosting account for me. I am not building a website. All I need for now is uploading some files e.g photos, forms and etc.

I've been trying to upload some photos via file manager CPanel. Then get the URL to put it in my html image section <img src="http://www.mydomainname/images/jpg" ...

For some reason, it doesn't work. I've tried it so many times! ;(

Is it something to do with this 'transfer' in 60 days? Or am I doing something wrong?

html is new too but I am learning. All I need to build is a simple template. But I need to upload some photos in my hosting account then copy and paste URL to html to show the photos in my template.

I would really appreciate any help!

    Thank you.

My understanding is that once I upload pictures or documents in my laptop to public_html using VodaHost file manager, those uploaded pictures should give URL with my domain name. This is not happening.

Is it something to do with '60 days transfer'?

    Please help! :(

If you uploaded them to your public_html your URL is
http: // www. yoursite.com/imagename.jpeg (I added space to keep it from linking) double check in your file manager (or control panel/file manager) to verify the pictures are actually there. You said something about adding an add-on domain, are you trying to up-load them there? Or did you? Then the URL will be slightly different you'll add the folder to the path.

As long as your DNS is pointed to the domain you are fine, the 60 days means it will take that long to transfer the registration (who you will pay to renew it) over to VodaHost.

    Hi Ed,

Thank you very much for your time and advice!
It's really frustrating as I've been trying over and over :(

Now I understand what 'a transfer' does. If I don't care much about to whom I pay, I shouldn't be really bothered with transfer then. As long as the DND is pointed to the right server....

    What I tried is,

    1. Added my domain on 'Add on Domains' in CPanel
    2. Click File Manager in CPanel
    3. Click public_html
    4. Under public_html, I have 'images'. And subfolder under public_html is myaddedon *new* domainname.com and right under that, I have 'cgi-bin' and 'images'
I created new folder on each of these images to see.... called 'a product' then click on that folder and uploaded a picture to that product folder. Right clicked 'a picture' and click 'view' to get URL which shows on a new window but URL is 'http://xx.xx.xx.xxx ........... and very very looooong... these xxx are the numbers which appear to be IP address but I am not entirely sure.

Depending on which picture I use to upload, some shows in a new window with a location address which is in my hard drive not URL.

Everytime I click a picture uploaded under public_html, it opens up a new window with its picture so I am assuming it's uploaded. But no proper URL means perhaps I am not doing it right?

Does it make sense to you?

    Thank you again.

Hi .. you may be unable to actually transfer your domain to your voda hosting account if your domain is not 60 days old. So if its a new domain, then you must wait until the domain ages to 60 days. In the meantime, this domain can be pointed from the current domain registrar to your voda hosting account servers. Voda Host is the hosting company and blue voda is the website builder voda host offers.

You had a message fromVH saying your domain is pointed to your voda host server. You can check this in VBS .. found on your welcome email that you received when you ordered your voda hosting account .. just be sure they are set to your voda servers.

You could also plunk your domain name into a place like who is server, to find out that your domain is actually being served by voda host servers.

D'son is correct as to how you would see your image after you have done so.

http://www.yourdomain/com/nameofimage.jpg or .gif whatever the image extension is ...

NOTE: Sounds as though your domain has not propogated to voda host servers or you have not added the domain on correctly ..

Post your domain url please ..

    Hi,

    Thank you for the reply.

    Whois shows,

    Registry Data

ICANN Registrar: *******.COM, INC. Created: 2009-01-16 Expires: 2010-01-16 Updated: 2009-01-17 Registrar Status: ok Name Server: NS13.VODAHOST.COM (has 10,005 domains) Name Server: NS14.VODAHOST.COM Whois Server: whois.*******.com

My primary account with BV was created a while ago (Domain name, hosting account plus Website builder). I built and used a website. Then stoped the business.

A few days ago, I bought a new domain name. This time, I am not building a website. I just need a hosting account as it is. Asked Vodahost for a transfer. Was told it wouldn't be done until it's 60 days old. And the domain pointers are set correctly.

I would like to use this domain as my main domain as I no longer use the other one. I added it on as 'add on domain' which was quite straight forward and its folder www.my *new* domainname.com is found under 'publi_html'

Hope it makes sense to you all experts.

I really hope that I can sort this today. My stock is piling up but I don't want to start selling until I have a nice template with attractive pictures and etc. :(

    Thank you again.

My Add -on Domain shows as below.

As said, I am not building a website with this domain name. I only need it to store pictures, forms and stuff in hosting account.

    Modify Add-on Domain

    Search Addon Domains Document Root Username Redirects to Actions jollyhappyshop.com /public_html/jollyhappyshop.com jollyhappyshop not redirected Remove Manage Redirection .UIpaginatoritem { float:left; margin: 0 5px 5px; padding: 0; text-align:center; font-size: 11px; } .UIpagination { margin: 0 auto; text-align:center; } .UIpaginator { margin: 0 auto; text-align:center; }

Can anyone please help me with my enquiry?

Out of desperation, I also submitted a support ticket last night and am still waiting for a reply.

I also spent entire morning reading the other section about DNS and Add On Domain Name.

As far as I can understand, I should be able to use my add on domain.

My Domain pointers are set correctly as informed by VodaHost.

I posted here my 'Whois' info and 'Add-on Domain' info from CPanel so anyone might spot some possible mistake or something?!?!

Perhaps I should just sit and wait for a reply from the support team but not knowing how long it's going to take, I've decided to try just one more time on forum.

It may easier just to open another hosting account with my current domain name registrar, *******, which I am trying to avoid doing at the moment.
