Hello, Does anyone have any info on the pro and cons of displaying license numbers on a website? My buddy wants to list his Business, Guide, and Bond license numbers on the index page. I think it's a good idea that will provide his potential clients that oh so important "warm and fuzzy" feeling, further legitimizing him and his business, but must remain skeptical in a world where ID fraud is a major concern. I just want to make sure the bad guys can't use that info for anything. Or if I'm just being paranoid - let me know - I'm a big boy and can take it. Thanks, Still NOOB Seth |

I wouldnt display his License number.. but you could display an image that states hes licensed by so and so... and then they can check that agency. Most agencies these days have some sort of seal or verification system already in place for web use....kinda like ssl or paypal verified etc. He could get VERIFIED with verisign.. they have a service like this that lets them use a verisign seal that hes legit..so to speak. First off let me say thanks you 2 for the speedy response - truly appreciate it! I have "Licensed and Bonded" under his info on every page, but he wants to list the numbers. I will look into verisign - thanks! |
