trying to make a download

i want my visitors to have the option or to open the file or to download it, but instead the file opens immediately. what do i do?

Don't understand opening a file in your browser. It downloads a page.

hi, i don't understand what you mean.
i meant that i want my visitors to have two options: save the file or open it right away.
right now the file opens immediately.

What kind of file is it? and it depends on the browser and its settings. If its a pdf or a doc file, some browsers will open it. If you want it to always be a download.. then ZIP it, and make two links.. one to open .. one to download.
