I simply want to add a page or two of Russian text. I have the part down so my copy paste is Russian on my BV page.

What I have conflict with is when I paste in Russian text for Meta Tags: keywords and description.

When I view these entries in the "page HTML" the Russian characters in the "meta tags" (that were okay) show up as ?????? (question marks).

I fear that this will damage my page rankings when the Google bots come-a-calling and that it will make a mess of my sitemap.xml.

Is it even worth the effort to dance and jump through hoops to get Russian pages ranked on English-based web-sites? Do I really have to do all the things Brad COstello suggests in this thread?:

This seems an awful lot and the info is not clear (windows or ISO ******, and which ****** is for Russian, etc.)

Is the easier way simply to publish my Russian pages but not include them in the sitemap.xml, and then to submit an exclusion request to Google for those pages.

The only Russians coming to my site will be the ones who read my advertisements locally and type in the URL directly.

Make sense? And, if so, am I stuck with this simple, non-ranked solution, or am I way off base here with being able to include a Russian page alongside an English page and not have them offset each other with their respective language codes?

This is confusing enough with just the English!
