Thread: Making large images load faster

I want to design a website like this one http://www.strada.co.uk/

Where the backgound is a large image that does not scroll with the rest of the page. However the problem Im having is making the large background image load fast, or even at all.

Can any help with this?

Open it in photoshop and choose option - Save for Web&Devices

Cool, I will give that a try.

Its all in the Kb's. The background image they have used is 209.23 kB (214256 bytes), to give you something to aim for.
