Hi I have discovered that pictures and other contents from my web pages copied by other sites and published as their own. Is there any way I can lock my contents so visitor cant download my images? Any opinion very much appreciated! Thanks Sandor |

though there are scripts around to stop right click and what not, all image on any site can be copied or downloaded. the best way to combat this is to watermark your images with ether your registered logo or website name.

Hotlink protects from people linking to an image (say) on your site--if they do that, your server (and bandwidth) is being used rather than theirs to display that image on their site. But to prevent your image from being copied and used on their own server is impossible.

That only stops people linking and pulling in your images or other formats etc from your site. but not stealing your image and putting on the own pages and hosting it themselves. Lol Tom i'm going to have to type faster. |

You can copyright your pages but that would only help you in a court of law (google it). Alien Dude has the best answer, which is to plaster your identity across the image you want no one to take. You can see an example of this at iStock. Roll over the images to see the watermark. Because watermarking is visually intrusive, most webmasters just have an attitude like this: "Oh, well. If they steal it, they steal it."
