Hi Everybody,
How do I transfer my Blue Voda to my new computer?
www.gabor-music.com
- download the website builder. this will create a blue voda folder on your hard drive in my document.s
- transfer all the files to the new blue voda folder, that means all the finished pages, images in images folder. make it look just like the folder on your old computor.
- when you open the page all should be like your old one.
- do not change the path of any files.

That being said, you may need to reload all your images on your pages. The images, in their respective folders need to be re-linked with the freshly installed BV engine. Open your respective page, double click on the pages blank image box and the image URL will still be listed there; providing your newly cataloged images are in the precise folder location and name. Otherwise; you will have to seek them out and double click on them.
You may also wish to double check your page HTML settings just to make sure they have been kept. Make a lot of notes and copy paste a lot of stuff to notepad so you can reverse the process quicker.
Also, your page property settings may be set to default settings, so you may want to go over them as well and make sure all is in order.
Good luck.

Wow!
This looks like fun. Redo all my pages, 200 of them...
Thanks, anyway.
You do not have to add your previous images. They are located on your server and will show.
The images may not show on the actual BV pages, however.
This is really no inconvenience.
As far as checking page properties you will not have to do that until you re-publish a particular page.

Hi, old Carbon!
Long time, no see... I'm glad you checked in.
I've got problems.
I'd like to run through / upgrade my old pages and in preview mode they don't connect with their respective embedded images and music files/players.
One thing is that those were done in an earlier (9.3) version and I downloaded a newer (10...) version.
I suspect I did something wrong. (The site itself appears to be running OK).
But I can't work on my old pages. Even the hyperlink icon is dead.
Customer support is suggesting to download 11.4.
What gives?
Should I re-download everything?

It is so easy to move your account to new computer. Here mention some few basic steps:
- First download the website builder. It will create a blue voda folder on your hard drive in my document
- After that transfer all your files to the new blue voda folder, that means all the pages, images. images folder.
- After that when you just open the page all should be like your old one.
- Please do not change the path of any files.
If you are moving to a new computer and a new OS the path to the images may change.

It appears, that all this info is dependent on the following factors:
- what kind of computer one has
- what operating system
- how is it configured
- and a lotsa other factors
In my case, yes I did exactly as described above - and it's coming out as it's described above: the transfer is working (to some extent) and, apparently, I'm gonna have to re-do many pages. (Good opportunity to revamp my site... long overdue).
(The pages have no intention to path-up with the server... What if I just move around the folders until they find each other and live happily ever after - until a new computer comes by...)
The new path would not be with the server but with your computer files.
As I said before, if you publish the pages with the RED X's for images/shapes visible all will be visible on the web because the images are on your server.
You are correct. There are many variables.

WOULD YOU EXPLAIN THIS?The new path would not be with the server but with your computer files.
You also mentioned this before, but the website is working perfectly. As I said before, if you publish the pages with the RED X's for images/shapes visible all will be visible on the web because the images are on your server.
And the "redX" stuff only matters if I want to rework the pages - which I do.
Then I have to re-define the paths - don't I? Or just re-publish?
Sure,
The reason you get the red x is because the path to the image (on your computer) has changed.
I has nothing to do with your server.
No, you do not have to re-define the path. Just publish. The images are still on the server.

Jack please don't comment if you are unsure of what you are saying.
Don't aim for success if you want it; just do what you love and believe in, and it will come naturally.
Hi CarbonTerry
I have been mulling over your technique, and it seems pretty straightforward and practical.
I have not yet tackled the image management issue, and am pretty much throwing them into the public html "images" folder. When I look in it I see all my named images, as well as BV's own style of naming the images I am using. I don't know that I understand that yet, and that is not any issue at this time.
The comment/question I have to toss to you is this:
Your method in the quote above seems to deal with batch loading.
What about when one wants to add-edit-delete a single image; or two; or three?
It seems to me that one would have to interrupt the harmony of the batch load and singularly go through many steps, with a few images, to make those few images be in synchronization with the batch items.
Does that make sense, and am I on the right path of understanding?
Thank you kindly for your volunteer services on this forum.

When I publish a page I do not put the images in a separate images folder in the public_html. I merely publish.
However, I do have the option to "Use page name for image prefix" selected.
You can find that option here:
Tools/Options/Publish/
What that does is to keep your images organized by page in the public_html directory.
Failing to do that will allow your images to be placed alpha-numeric in your public_html folder.
If you have a lot of images it will be difficult to manage them.

Sounds cool! I'll give it a try. I am just about ready to load a lot of pages. I am just now touching them up individually, and I will give this option a whirl. Thank you for the idea.
Batch load means a lot of images being manipulated at the same time. I guess it is another name for "multiple files". I think I picked it up off of another application I use, but cannot think of the name at the moment. A batch of cookies? LOL
